Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this very practical and trying need. Going without hot water makes daily life difficult, and it is understandable to feel frustrated when a promised repair is delayed and you are left to face ice cold water.
I am praying with you for a mighty and quick solution, that the heating system would be fully repaired very soon and that you would have hot water restored to your apartment. I am also praying that if a move does become necessary, the Lord will clearly provide and open the door to a suitable alternative home where your needs are met.
Scripture often links waiting with hope and teaches us patience as we wait upon the Lord. To have patience of hope means to continue trusting that God will work in His time, confident that He will work even when we cannot see it yet. We are told in Hebrews that we have need of patience, that after we have done the will of God we might receive the promise, and that the saints of old through faith and patience inherited the promises. James also exhorts us to be patient as a farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, having long patience until the early and latter rains come.
Part of that patience comes from remembering who God is. He is called the God of patience and consolation, and the God of all comfort. His patience is also His long suffering. He was patient in sending the Messiah at the right time, patient with Abraham as he waited many years for the promised son Isaac through whom the seed would be called, and He is patient now as He waits for the full harvest of lives to come to repentance, not willing that any should perish. The comfort and patience we receive from the Scriptures give us hope as we see how patiently God works out His purposes.
Even small trials can test our trust. The Bible says the trying of our faith works patience, and tribulation works patience, and patience works experience and hope. God sometimes allows us to come to the end of our own resources so that we will not lean on our own understanding but will learn to trust Him with all our heart, asking in faith without wavering. It is easy to give God a deadline and then begin to waver when it passes, but He calls us to let patience have its perfect work that we may be mature and complete.
In this waiting, even for something as basic as hot water, you can bring your request to Him and trust His wisdom. He sees your discomfort and your need for a home, and He is full of pity and tender mercy, as we see in the example of Job who endured with patience and saw the Lord's compassion in the end.
May the Lord grant you His peace as you wait, sustain you with hope from His Word, and provide for you quickly according to His perfect timing and care.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this need before You. You know the difficulty of living without hot water and the disappointment of a delayed repair. We ask that You would move upon those doing the work and provide a swift and complete restoration. Please comfort and strengthen this dear one with patience and hope while waiting, and if a new place to live is Your will, lead and provide the right home with all that is needed. We trust Your goodness and Your timing, and we ask this in faith. Amen.
