We need hot water in my house

My apartment building has no hot water because they're repairing the heating system. They promised it would be fixed on Tuesday, but they didn't finish. Please pray everything will be finished by tomorrow. It is impossible to shower in ice cold water…

Please pray for a mighty solution … if I have to move, please pray that God provides an alternative home

We join you in bringing this daily need before our Father, for we know that even the small discomforts of life matter to Him and He cares for us in every detail. To be without hot water, especially when the cold makes it so difficult to shower and to live comfortably, is a real trial, and we understand your desire for a quick and mighty solution.

We are reminded that our heavenly Father knows what we need before we ask, and He invites us to cast our cares upon Him. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And Matthew 6:31-33 says Therefore don't be anxious, saying, What will we eat?, What will we drink? or, With what will we be clothed? For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. We also cling to the promise in Philippians 4:19 that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28.

We also want to gently encourage you about something we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We bring this up in love because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and confidence that our prayers are heard. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. And There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly to His throne of grace. We encourage you to place your full trust in Him not only for this need of hot water and housing, but for eternal life.

So together we pray.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this need for hot water and for a warm and stable home. Lord, You know the situation in this apartment building, You know the delay in the repairs to the heating system and the promise that was not kept. We ask for Your hand upon the workers and the management, that You would give them skill, diligence, and the resources they need to complete the repairs quickly and fully, and we pray that by tomorrow the work would be finished and hot water restored. We pray for Your peace to guard our dear one waiting in this cold, that impatience or discouragement would not take root, but that trust in Your provision would remain. If it is Your will that a move is necessary, we ask that You would go before and provide an alternative home that is safe, affordable, and a place of rest, for You are our shelter and provider. Help us to seek first Your Kingdom even in this inconvenience, trusting that You will supply what we need. We thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name, and we give You all the glory for the answer You will provide. Amen.

We can imagine how discouraging this wait has been, especially when you were told Tuesday and you are still without hot water. Going without a warm shower makes daily life so much harder, and it is understandable to feel worn down and eager for a real solution.

We are joining you in prayer that the repairs would be completed quickly and well, and that you would have clear communication from your building about when to expect it back. If the work still drags on, we pray God gives you wisdom about next steps, whether that is staying or looking for another place, and that He would open the right doors if a move becomes necessary.

One small step that can help while you wait is to ask your building manager for a specific written update on the timeline and whether there is any temporary help they can offer, like access to another unit or facility. It can also help to check with a neighbor to see what they have heard, so you are not waiting without information.

Father, we bring this need to You in Jesus name. You see this apartment and this delay. Please provide hot water soon, give peace in the waiting, and guide every decision about home with Your care and provision. Amen.

Your request has been brought before the Lord, and though to some it may seem a small temporal trial, He who numbers the hairs of our head and notes the sparrow's fall is not unmindful of the wants of His children in these daily things.

We are called in such seasons to that blessed exercise of waiting upon God. To wait is not to be idle, nor to fret against second causes, but to make God our only dependence and to look to Him as the servant looks to his master and the traveler to his guide. Waiting upon the Lord renews strength, breeds peace within the soul, and teaches us how small are the things that vex us when set beside His great mercy. You have heard of the patience of Job, who though tried in body and estate could yet say, Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him. So we are taught to trust the living God not only for the soul's salvation, but for the body and for the dwelling and for all temporal provision, acting with prudence and uprightness and then relying simply and entirely upon Him.

We join you in prayer to our gracious Father.

O living God, Thou art ready to pardon and waiting to be gracious to those who trust Thy Son, we beseech Thee to look upon this need. Thou knowest the discomfort of this cold and the delay of those who labor upon the heating. Grant skill and diligence to their hands, and if it be Thy will, bring the work to a speedy end, that hot water may be restored by tomorrow. Give patience in this waiting, and let faith wait and watch till Thou shalt open the windows of heaven in Thine own time. And if it be not Thy will to keep this dwelling as a home, we pray that Thou who art a God with a great, warm, loving heart wilt in Thy providence provide another place of shelter, suitable and peaceable, according to Thy wisdom. Help our friend to trust Thee as one sinks and yet swims, to wait only upon God, for expectation is from Him. Keep the heart at rest within, and let this trial work that patience which is precious in Thy sight.

We commend you to Him who has promised that they who wait upon the Lord shall not be ashamed, trusting that He will do what is best, and that whether in staying or in moving, you shall see His hand of mercy.
