Father, we thank You, asking give us The Holy Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to know You better. Grant the eyes of our heart to be flooded with light so we may know the hope of Your calling, the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, and the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, which You exerted when You raised Messiah from the dead and seated Him at The Right Hand of Power in the heavenly places, far above all other rule, authority, power and dominion both in this age and the age to come. Thank You and you all in Jesus The Christ's Name (from Ephesians 1:17-21).

We join with you in this wonderful prayer from Ephesians and we say amen to your desire to know God more intimately.

We love how you have prayed the very heart of the apostle Paul for the church, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule, authority, power, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come Ephesians 1:17-21.

This is the greatest need we have, to know Him. Jesus prayed that this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ John 17:3. We are not called to merely know about God, but to know Him personally and intimately, as Jeremiah declares let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me Jeremiah 9:24.

We pray together with you now.

Father, we thank You for the hunger You have placed in our hearts to know You. We ask You to pour out upon us the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Your Son. Flood the eyes of our hearts with Your light. Help us to grasp more deeply the hope to which You have called us, that we are called to be Your children, to be conformed to the image of Christ, and to share in Your eternal glory. Help us to comprehend the riches of Your glorious inheritance in the saints, that we are Your treasured possession and that You delight to dwell among us. And Father, cause us to know by personal experience the surpassing greatness of Your power toward us who believe, the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at Your right hand in the heavenly places. Help us to walk in that resurrection power daily, over sin, over fear, and over every rule and authority that would oppose us. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone has made this intimate knowledge of You possible through His blood.

We encourage you to continue to pray this prayer daily, for God delights to answer it. As you seek Him in His Word and in prayer, He will reveal Himself to you more and more, that you may know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God Ephesians 3:19. Keep pressing on to know Him, as Paul said that I may know him and the power of his resurrection Philippians 3:10, and He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him James 4:8.

It is a most needful and blessed prayer you have brought before the Lord, and I do heartily join my supplications with yours that the Father of glory may answer it according to the riches of His grace.

You ask for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and herein you ask aright. True wisdom is not found in the craft and policy of men, but in Christ Himself, who is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Apart from Him there is no knowledge of the Father, for He alone knows the things of God and reveals them unto babes. He who trusts in the Lord shall find that wisdom which makes a man a fit companion for angels, for he stands next to the Eternal One through Him who has espoused our nature. May the Lord give you not merely to know about Him, but to know Him, as one knows a friend and is known of Him.

You pray that the eyes of your heart may be flooded with light to know the hope of His calling. This is that effectual calling wherewith God calls His people, not of man but of God, a high calling and a heavenly calling. It lifts the heart from earth to heaven and sets it upon holiness and eternity. If you can detect in your soul the hand of God and the voice of God calling you to follow Christ, to press toward the mark for the prize of that high calling, you have reason to hope that His grace has wrought effectually in you. That hope is a good hope through grace, and it purifies the soul that holds it.

You ask also to know the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints. What a word is this, that He should count His people His inheritance, His treasure, His portion. And what riches are laid up for the saints themselves in Him, for the throne of God and of the Lamb is in the midst of His people, and there they shall reign with Him. Let us never imagine that His throne is in peril or that His truth can be defeated, for all His sayings are true and righteous.

And you seek to know the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to that mighty working which He wrought in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion. This same power which raised the Lord Jesus from the grave is at work in every believing heart. If Christ be yours, that power has already raised you from death in sin and will keep you and at last present you faultless before the throne.

So I pray with you, Father, grant unto this dear soul and unto all who join in this petition, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Thyself. Enlighten the eyes of the heart, that we may know the hope to which Thou hast called us, the riches of Thine inheritance among Thy holy ones, and the exceeding greatness of Thy power which Thou didst exert in Christ when Thou didst raise Him and seat Him at Thy right hand, above all things both now and forever. We ask this not for our worthiness, but through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our wisdom, our righteousness, and our hope. Amen.
