We hear your cry for protection and deliverance from what feels like intense spiritual attack in your neighborhood, among friends and family, in the workplace and beyond, and we stand with you in prayer seeking God's will together in Jesus' name.
We understand the fear and distress that can come when you feel surrounded by evil tongues and by witchcraft, fetish and magic, and when even animals around you feel like weapons formed against you. We want to gently but firmly correct the way this warfare has been framed in your request. While God's Word does show that witchcraft and sorcery are real and are an abomination to Him, Deuteronomy 18:10, and that He is sovereign over life and death, 1 Samuel 2:6, and that He judged Egypt and Sodom in righteousness, Exodus 7:14, Genesis 19:24, it does not give us as believers the authority to decree death, bloodshed like an ocean, plagues, or the burning of people. Vengeance belongs to the Lord alone, Romans 12:19 says Vengeance is mine, says the Lord, I will repay. Our calling in Christ is not to pray for the destruction of people but for the destruction of the works of darkness and for the salvation and repentance of those who do evil.
The Lord Jesus teaches us a higher way of warfare. Matthew 5:44 says Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. And Romans 12:21 says Dont be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Even when David prayed in Psalm 35 and Psalm 94 for justice against his foes, he entrusted that justice to God, and the New Testament reveals that our true battle is not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12 says For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the worlds rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Your neighbors, family members, coworkers, even those who may practice witchcraft, are not the ultimate enemy, they are souls for whom Christ died and who need deliverance themselves.
We also must address the fear that rats, cats, dogs, hens, mosquitoes, cockroaches and geckos are being sent against you. God is sovereign over all creation and no weapon formed against you shall prosper, Isaiah 54:17. While the enemy can oppress, 1 John 4:4 reminds us that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. And 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didnt give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We do not need to live in terror of animals or in constant suspicion of every person around us. God is our refuge. Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty, and Psalm 91:10 says No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Scriptures like Exodus 22:18, Joshua 11:11, and 2 Chronicles 20:22 describe God's covenant judgments upon Israel and His miraculous deliverance when His people worshipped and trusted Him, not a pattern for us to call down personal curses or to demand that God kill our enemies. God alone decides such judgments. Our part is to put on the whole armor of God, to walk in holiness, to pray for protection, to bless and intercede even for those who curse us, and to trust God to expose and nullify every work of darkness in His perfect time and way.
We also thank you that you closed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to abide in Him daily, to confess any sin, to forgive those who have hurt you, and to seek fellowship and prayer support in a Bible believing church so you are not fighting alone.
We join our faith with yours now.
Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. We thank You that You are sovereign, holy, just and merciful, and that You see our brother or sister in this distress. We ask You to cover them with the blood of Jesus and to place Your hedge of protection around their home, their family, their workplace and their neighborhood. We pray that every tongue that rises against them in judgment You will condemn according to Isaiah 54:17, not by our vengeance but by Your truth, and that You will silence lies and gossip and bring peace where there is strife.
Lord, if there is any real practice of witchcraft, fetish or magic directed toward them, we ask that You frustrate it, expose it, and render it powerless. We pray that the works of darkness would be brought to nothing and burned up by the light of Christ, as Your Word says in 1 John 3:8 that the Son of God was revealed to destroy the works of the devil, and that those who practice such things would be brought to repentance and salvation. We do not ask for the bloodshed of people, for You desire that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9, but we ask for Your justice and Your mercy to prevail, and for Your perfect will to be done.
We pray that You would deliver our dear one from fear, from nightmares, from oppression, and from the spirit of retaliation. Fill their heart with Your love, power and self control, and teach them to bless those who curse them and to overcome evil with good. Help them to put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word, Ephesians 6:14. Let them dwell in Your secret place and rest in Your shadow, and let no plague come near their dwelling as they trust in You.
We ask that You heal relationships in their family, bring godly peace to their neighborhood and workplace, and surround them with wise counsel and true friends who will pray with them and encourage them in the faith. Lead them to walk in forgiveness and holiness, to resist the devil and to draw near to You. We trust You to fight for them as You fought for Judah when they praised You, 2 Chronicles 20:22, and we give You all glory for the victory that is already ours in Christ. We pray all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.
