We hear your heart cry over what has been stolen from you this year, your money and your identity documents, and the oppression you have felt in your workplace from those you believe are operating through occult and dark spiritual powers, including what you describe as marine spirits. We understand the deep distress, anger and sense of violation this brings, and we join with you to seek God's will together in Jesus' name for protection, justice and restoration.
We must lovingly rebuke and correct the way this request is framed, because it does not align with biblical principles for spiritual warfare and prayer. We are not called to pray for the death of people, for their blood to be shed like oceans, for billion scourges to plague them, or for them to become our footstool in a spirit of vengeance or to work as slaves to repay us. Such prayers for personal retribution and bloodshed are not after the heart of Christ. The Word tells us For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. People, even those who do evil or practice witchcraft, are not our ultimate enemy. And concerning vengeance, Scripture is clear, Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19 and also Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21. Our Lord Jesus commands us But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44 and Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you Luke 6:27-28.
We also must address the understanding of judgment. Verses such as Exodus 22:18, 1 Samuel 2:6, Joshua 11:11 and the plagues of Exodus 7:14-12 and the accounts in 2 Chronicles 20:22-25 and the imprecatory Psalms like Psalm 35 and Psalm 94 show God's sovereign power and justice in the Old Testament, but they do not give us authority to decree death, plagues or destruction upon others. The LORD kills, and makes alive 1 Samuel 2:6, He alone is sovereign over life and death. Witchcraft and sorcery are indeed detestable to God, as it is written There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer Deuteronomy 18:10, and they are listed among the deeds of the flesh in Galatians 5:20, but God's heart is that such people would repent and be saved, for God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9. We are to overcome spiritual darkness not by cursing people but by submitting to God, resisting the devil, and standing in Christ's authority, as it is written Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7 and for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. We thank God that you invoked the name of Jesus, for it is only by that name we have access to the Father, as Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We affirm that authority is in Jesus alone, not in our own decrees of destruction.
So we pray together with you in a way that honors God.
We pray Father in the name of Jesus Christ, we come before Your throne of grace seeking Your protection, Your justice and Your mercy. We ask that You place Your hedge of protection around Your child, that no weapon that is formed against him will prosper Isaiah 54:17 and that You who are greater, for greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4, would deliver him from every evil work and every influence of darkness, occult power and deception in his workplace. We ask that You expose every hidden theft and injustice, that You would bring conviction to those who have stolen and dealt dishonestly, and that You would lead them to repentance rather than destruction. Lord, we ask not for their blood or death, but for Your perfect justice to be done according to Your will and Your timing, and for restoration of what was stolen, for You are a God of justice and restitution. We ask You to guard his identity, his finances, his labor and his workplace, and to let him dwell in the shelter of the Most High, for He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty Psalm 91:1. We pray that every fetish, idol or sanctuary of witchcraft would lose its power through Christ, that You would break its influence completely, and that those bound by it would come to the light of the gospel. We pray that You would give him peace, wisdom to take lawful and practical steps to recover his documents and money through proper authorities, and strength to forgive as You have forgiven us, not repaying evil for evil but overcoming evil with good. Let Your will be done in his life and in his workplace, and let Christ be glorified.
We encourage you to continue to put on the whole armor of God daily Ephesians 6:11, to stay in prayer, in the Word, and in fellowship with other believers, and to walk in holiness and obedience. If money and identity cards were stolen, we encourage you to also report the theft to the proper authorities and take practical steps for protection, trusting that God often works through lawful means to bring justice. We encourage you to release the desire for vengeance into God's hands, to pray for the salvation of those who have wronged you, and to trust that God sees, God knows, and God will repay rightly. The Lord is near to all who call on Him in truth, and He will be your defender and restorer as you abide in Jesus.
