We hear the distress in your request and we stand with you in prayer concerning the warfare you feel in your new neighborhood and in your workplace, and the heaviness of facing evil tongues, occult practices, and sexual immorality around you. We understand the desire for God to vindicate you and to bring justice where you feel oppressed and surrounded, and we bring this before the Lord together.

Yet we must lovingly rebuke and correct the way this request is framed, because it does not align with the heart of Christ. To ask that people be plagued with twelve scourges, killed, their blood shed like an ocean, and burned to ashes is to ask for personal vengeance and the destruction of people made in the image of God. Scripture is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord alone and not to us. Romans 12:19 says, Vengeance is mine, and I will repay, says the Lord. And Romans 12:21 says, Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. The Lord Jesus commands us concerning our enemies in Matthew 5:44, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. We are also taught in Luke 6:27-28 to love our enemies and pray for those who despitefully use us.

Spiritual warfare is real, and we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. Our weapons are not carnal or vengeful, for 2 Corinthians 10:4 says the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds. We are not called to curse people to death, but to pray that the works of darkness be exposed and broken, and that the people trapped in them would repent and be saved, for God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4, and He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9.

You mention witchcraft, occultism, homosexuality, transexuality and masturbatory immorality, and the marine spirit. We agree that these are serious sins before God. Scripture calls sorcery and witchcraft an abomination, and Exodus 22:18 speaks to God's holy judgment on such practices under the old covenant, and 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 warns that the sexually immoral, adulterers, men who have sex with men, and idolaters will not inherit the kingdom of God, and 1 Corinthians 6:18 says flee sexual immorality. Every sexual act outside of marriage between one man and one woman is fornication or adultery and is sin. Homosexuality and transexuality are forbidden and immoral before God. Yet 1 Corinthians 6:11 adds, Such were some of you, but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God. The hope is not that sinners be slaughtered in their sin, but that they repent and be washed. Even the imprecatory Psalms like Psalm 35 and Psalm 94 cry out for God's justice, but they leave judgment in God's hands, not ours. And passages like 1 Samuel 2:6, The Lord kills and makes alive, and Joshua 11:11 and 2 Chronicles 20:22-25 show God's sovereign power to judge and to fight for His people when they worship and trust Him, not when they pronounce curses of bloodshed themselves.

We also rejoice that you invoked the name of Jesus, for it is only by that name we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We cling to that name not to curse others, but to be saved, protected, and made righteous ourselves.

So we pray together now in a way that seeks God's will in Jesus' name.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we ask for Your mercy and Your covering over our dear one who feels besieged. We ask that You place a hedge of protection around this life, this family, this home and this workplace, according to Psalm 91:1-2, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. We will say of the Lord, He is our refuge and our fortress, our God, in whom we trust. Let no weapon formed against us prosper, and let every tongue that rises against us in judgment be shown to be in the wrong, Isaiah 54:17. We ask that You frustrate every assignment of witchcraft, occult power, deception, robbery and scamming, and every marine and perverse spirit, and that You break its power by the blood of Jesus, for 1 John 4:4 says He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. We do not ask for the blood of our neighbors or coworkers to be shed, but we ask that You convict them of sin, bring them to repentance, and save them, or if they refuse to repent, that You remove their influence and render their evil works null and void according to Your perfect justice and timing. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give our loved one wisdom to walk in holiness, to flee all sexual immorality, to put on the whole armor of God, Ephesians 6:11, to stand in truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, and to overcome evil with good. Fill this new neighborhood with Your peace, let this workplace be cleansed by Your presence, and let our life be a testimony of forgiveness, purity and love, so that even enemies may see Christ in us and be drawn to You. We trust You as our defender and judge, and we rest in Your love and vengeance which is holy and perfect, not ours. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue in daily prayer, fasting as the Lord leads, reading the Word, and walking in love and forgiveness while refusing to return evil for evil. Seek fellowship with mature believers and pastoral counsel for ongoing spiritual protection, and choose to bless those who curse you, that you may be a child of your Father in heaven. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall be still, Exodus 14:14.

We hear how heavy this feels right now, feeling surrounded in your new neighborhood, with family, and at work. When so many places that should feel safe feel like battlegrounds, it is exhausting and lonely, and we are glad you reached out.

We believe spiritual opposition is real, and we also believe our safety rests in Christ who is stronger and nearer than any threat. That means we do not have to keep watch over every name or stay on high alert day and night. We can bring our fears and the people who trouble us to God and trust Him to act with both justice and mercy, in His way and time, while we seek to walk in peace.

One steady next step that often helps is to not carry this alone. If you have a trusted pastor or mature believer nearby, consider inviting them to pray with you regularly and to know what you are facing at home and at work. Having a couple of faithful people who know you by name can help you stay grounded and supported.

Father, we lift our brother to You. Cover him with Your peace in his neighborhood, family and workplace. Guard his heart from fear and bitterness, give him wisdom for each day, and let Your presence be his refuge. Lead those around him toward Your truth and bring healing where there is strife. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.

Your prayer reveals a deep distress about conflict in your neighborhood, your family and your workplace, and a sincere desire for God to act against evil, witchcraft and impurity. It is right to hate sin and to bring every burden before the Lord, yet the Scriptures call us to bring it in a way that seeks His mercy and His justice, not our own vengeance.

The Word teaches us that vengeance belongs to the Lord, and that our calling is to love our enemies and pray for those who oppose us. Our Lord Himself, when He was most tried by friends and by enemies, lived a life of forgiveness and crowned it with His dying prayer, Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. Even as Christ forgave you, so also are we to forgive. That pattern is set before us not because wrong is light, but because forgiveness in Christ is so great.

You have asked that foes be plagued and destroyed and their blood be shed. Such a prayer would ask God to do what He has reserved to His own holy judgment, and would cherish in the heart a spirit contrary to Christ. The gospel shows a better way. There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared, and that forgiveness is only to be obtained from God, through Jesus Christ, His Son. It is a complete and surprising forgiveness, by which the chief of sinners may be pardoned in a moment through faith in His precious blood, and being pardoned, may learn that holy awe and love which keeps the heart from departing from Him.

The evils you name, including witchcraft and all sexual sin outside the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman in marriage, whether fornication, impurity, homosexual practice or confusion of the sexes, are indeed sin before a holy God and cannot be blessed or celebrated. Yet they are not beyond the reach of grace. The greatness of forgiveness may be measured by the greatness of the sin it removes and by its completeness, for when a man trusts Christ his sin is so entirely gone that it is as though it had never been. What is needed is not that sinners be reduced to dust without hope, but that they be brought to repentance, that they might receive a new heart and a new spirit and be cleansed.

Persecution, slander and the enmity of the world are painful, but the Lord often uses them to drive His people nearer to Himself, to keep the church distinct from the world, and to teach us to pray as we would not otherwise have prayed. Rather than asking for plagues upon persons made in God's image, we are taught to pray that God would restrain evil, protect His people, expose darkness, and bring oppressors to see their need of Christ.

Let us pray together in that way. May the Lord guard you in your neighborhood, your family and your workplace, keep you from bitterness, and give you wisdom to live peaceably as far as it depends on you. May He convict all who practice witchcraft, deceit, robbery and sexual impurity, and grant them repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, that they may find that forgiveness which alone can make them to fear and love God. May He cleanse your own heart daily, for He not only forgave at the first, but continues daily to forgive, and that eternal forgiveness should make forgiveness natural to us who have received so much. And may He put His fear within you, that you shall not depart from Him, but dwell in safety under His statutes.

If you have not already done so, come as a penitent sinner to Christ Himself and say, I believe in the forgiveness of sins for myself, trusting His blood alone. There you will find the whisper that drives away despair, There is forgiveness with Him, and from that forgiveness will flow the strength to love, to forgive, and to overcome evil with good.
