Your prayer reveals that you are in a spiritual battle, and that is where we all truly wrestle. The forces that oppose you are not merely people or circumstances; they are dark spiritual entities that wage war against God's purposes. The enemy seeks to destroy your belongings, your activities, your peace, because he wants to discourage and hinder you from walking in the calling God has on your life. But the weapons God gives us for this fight are not physical or carnal. They are mighty through Him: prayer, faith, and the word of God. These pull down the strongholds the enemy tries to build.
You called on vengeance. That is a cry many of us feel when we've been wronged. Deep within us there is a raw desire to get even, to see our enemies suffer immediately. But God's word is clear: vengeance belongs to the Lord, not to us. He says, "I will repay." Our problem is that we want instant justice, and God often seems slow. But He is not slow; He is merciful, and He will set all things right in His time. When we try to grasp vengeance ourselves, we step into the flesh, and that is where the enemy gains advantage. Instead, we are called to commit our cause to God, to feed our enemy when he is hungry, to overcome evil with good. That does not mean we pretend wrongs don't exist; it means we trust the righteous Judge and refuse to let bitterness take root in our own hearts.
Notice your request also called upon a guardian angel directly, asking that angel to guide and protect you. It is true that God commands His angels concerning His children, and they are ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation. But our prayers are to be directed to God Himself, through Jesus Christ. We do not speak to angels or call on them as protectors; we call on the Lord, and He dispatches His angelic host according to His will. Jesus could have summoned legions of angels at any moment, yet He prayed to the Father. So place your trust not in an angel, but in the God who commands them. He covers you with His wings, and no foe can snatch you from His hand.
This year, let prayer become your chief weapon. When you sense the enemy pressing in and your emotions unsettled, go into your closet and intercede. Bind the forces of darkness in the authority of Christ and release God's work over your life. The decisive victory was already won on the cross; there Jesus disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. The day of God's final vengeance is coming, but now is the season of redemption and grace. So do not be overcome by evil. Stand firm, clothed in God's armor, and let Him be your shield. He watches over you, and He will sustain you.
