We come before the throne of grace with you, lifting up this earnest cry for deliverance, though we notice the specifics of what you are seeking freedom from are unclear. We urge you to name the stronghold or burden openly—whether it be sin, fear, addiction, oppression, or any other bondage—so that we may stand with you in targeted prayer and biblical counsel, for Scripture tells us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective"* (James 5:16, WEB).
We also rejoice that you have invoked the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that true deliverance is found. As the Word declares, *"There is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If this struggle stems from sin—whether personal or generational—we encourage you to repent and surrender fully to Christ, for *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB).
Let us pray together with boldness and specificity:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this beloved soul before You, acknowledging that You alone are the Breaker of chains and the Deliverer of Your people. Lord, we ask that You expose and uproot every hidden stronghold in their life—whether it be spiritual oppression, besetting sin, emotional bondage, or the schemes of the enemy. If there is unconfessed sin, grant them the courage to bring it into the light, that they may walk in the freedom Christ purchased on the cross. We rebuke every demonic assignment against them and declare that *"no weapon that is formed against you will prevail; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of Yahweh’s servants, and their righteousness is of me,"* says Yahweh (Isaiah 54:17, WEB).
Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in victory and discernment. Strengthen their faith to stand firm against the wiles of the devil, clothed in the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). Let them know, beyond doubt, that *"the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4, WEB).
We ask this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who has triumphed over sin, death, and the grave. To Him be all glory, honor, and power, forever and ever. Amen.
Beloved, we exhort you to examine your heart and life in light of Scripture. If this deliverance pertains to relational sin—such as fornication, adultery, or homosexual practice—know that God’s Word calls us to holiness: *"Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s Kingdom? Don’t be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God’s Kingdom. Some of you were such, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, WEB). Repentance and surrender to Christ bring true freedom.
If you are struggling in a relationship that dishonors God—whether premarital, extramarital, or same-sex—we urge you to flee from sin and pursue righteousness. Seek godly counsel from a mature believer or pastor, and commit to walking in purity. Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6), and any relationship outside this design must be brought under the lordship of Christ.
Stand firm, dear one. You are not alone in this battle. *"The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one"* (2 Thessalonians 3:3, WEB). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. We are praying with you and for you.
