Vision

Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join you in this prayer for God-given vision and we thank you for seeking Him so that you do not simply follow your own personal goals but follow His perfect will.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18 so beautifully and we want to share how it reads in the World English Bible, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. This shows us that true vision is not merely personal ambition or imagination, but divine revelation, the unfolding of God's word and will that keeps us from wandering and brings blessing when we obey it. We also rejoice with you in the truth you quoted, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. Our Father does not change like shifting shadows and every vision that truly comes from Him will be good, perfect, and will align with His unchanging character and His word.

We want to encourage you that God still speaks and gives vision today, as it is written, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. Yet scripture also teaches us to test what we receive, Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1. Any vision from God will never contradict His written word, for Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105. And we are called to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. So we pray not only for visions, but for discernment to recognize His voice, humility to submit your own goals to Him, and obedience to walk in what He reveals, remembering For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning, and that every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. We thank You that You are a God who reveals Yourself and who does not leave Your people without vision or without hope. In Jesus' name we ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon our dear one who seeks You. Grant visions that are truly from You, clear and pure and in perfect agreement with Your word. Remove confusion and remove the pull of mere personal ambition, and let Your revelation restrain, guide, and direct every step. Give a heart that delights to keep Your law and to be blessed in obedience. Give wisdom to test every spirit, to hold fast to what is from You and to turn from what is not. Fulfill, Father, the visions You give, for You are faithful to complete what You begin. Lead this life so that it bears fruit for Your glory and not just for self. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through whom we have access to Your throne of grace, amen.

We appreciate your heart to follow God's leading rather than just your own plans. That desire to be led by Him is a good place to be.

We hear how much you want clarity and direction from the Lord, and we join you in asking Him for wisdom for the steps ahead. We believe God delights to guide His people, and He most clearly does that as we walk close to Him day by day through His Word, prayer, and the counsel of other believers who know us well.

One simple next step that helps many is to bring both your hopes and your questions before the Lord in a regular, unhurried time of prayer and Scripture reading, and to write down what you sense He is highlighting, then share it with a trusted pastor or mature friend who can help you weigh it with you. Over time that steady seeking often brings the clear sense of calling you are longing for, more than looking for a single dramatic moment.

We are praying for you.

Father, we thank You for this heart that wants to follow You. Grant wisdom, clear direction and a growing sense of Your presence and purpose each day. Help Your child to know Your leading and to walk in it with peace and confidence. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer is a wise one, and the Lord loves to hear it when a soul desires to be led by His counsel rather than by its own aims. Where there is no vision, indeed the people cast off restraint, for vision in that text is not mere personal ambition or a dream of our own making, but the revealing of the mind of God, His Word opened to the heart by His Spirit.

You do well to turn from following your own personal goals, for our own ways are contrary to God's thoughts and our own devices will perish. There is great comfort in this, that our God is in one mind and His purpose is unchanged. He is carrying out still His one great purpose, and none of these things cometh by chance, but everything cometh according to the purpose of His own will. What His soul desireth, that He doeth. To ask for vision is therefore to ask to be brought into line with that one, sure, unchanging purpose, that you may see it and walk in it. And we have to labor too, not as idle waiters, but as those who seek His face in His Word and in prayer.

How then does the Lord give such vision. First, be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. His Word is preserved century after century and speaks still with all the freshness as if it were uttered anew this night. There you find His counsel plainly. Then there are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very fact you are furnished with unerring guidance. When you yield yourself to the holy influences of God's presence, you shall have given to you an illumination of mind which comes from dwelling near God and being made like Him.

This vision is not of the flesh, but of the Spirit. The question must be put to each believer, Are you daily receiving Him as you believe. If when you believed you had not a life imparted by the Holy Spirit, your believing was a dead believing. But where the Spirit dwells, He moves and impels to holy service, and you hear behind you a voice saying, This is the way, walk you in it. We must continue to live by receiving. At bottom everything depends upon what we receive from Him. Pray then not only for a sight of the path, but for the Spirit who gives eyes to see it.

May God grant to you the vision of the Lord Himself in the midst of His people, as Joshua saw the man with the sword drawn in His hand, that you may know how solemn and how blessed it is to serve Him, and that you may take off your shoes in reverence and go forth in the strength which He alone confers.

Let us pray for you together.

Heavenly Father, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh every good gift and every perfect gift, we thank You that You do not change and that You fulfil the visions You give. We ask in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus that You would give to this Your servant a true vision of Your purpose and Your will. Take away the veil of self seeking and personal goals, and show what Your soul desireth, that Your servant may do it. Guide with Your counsel by Your Word and by Your Holy Spirit, imparting life and light and holy impulse to obey. Cause Your Word to dwell richly within, and seal faith with the impress of the Spirit, that there may be not a counterfeit believing but a living faith that sees and follows Christ. And afterward receive Your servant to glory, for on earth there is no true glory for any who takes his own course, but only for those guided by Your counsel. In Jesus name we ask this, amen.

Continue as God's pupil, whom He has taught from youth, to observe His wondrous works and to declare them. God's promise may tarry, but it never fails. Wait upon Him, keep close to His Book, keep close to His Son, and He will not forget to be gracious, but will make plain your way.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
