Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We rejoice with you in your desire to seek vision from the Lord rather than simply following your own personal goals, and we join together with you in prayer for this.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18, and we love your heart to not perish for lack of vision. In its full context that verse says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. This shows us that true vision is not merely a personal ambition or a dream for success, but divine revelation that comes from God and keeps us anchored to His Word and His law. Without His revelation we drift, but when we keep His Word we are blessed.

We also thank God with you that He does not change like shifting shadows and that He fulfills the visions He gives. You quoted so beautifully, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning. James 1:17. We cling to this truth that any true vision from God will be a good and perfect gift from above, consistent with His unchanging character.

We want to encourage you that God does still speak and lead His people, and He promises to guide us. It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. And He promises, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8. Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105.

At the same time we gently remind you that every vision or impression must be tested against Scripture, for God will never give a vision that contradicts His written Word. We are told, Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1, and Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21. The primary way God gives us vision today is through His Word, through prayer, through the counsel of the Holy Spirit, and through wise godly counsel. If any vision exalts self or leads away from obedience to Christ, it is not from Him. We also remember, If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5.

So we pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness, and that every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. We thank You for this dear one who does not want to follow mere personal goals but longs for Your revelation and direction. We ask in the mighty name of Jesus that You would pour out Your Spirit and grant clear, biblical vision. Reveal Your will through Your Word, make Your path plain, and give wisdom liberally to discern Your voice. Guard this heart from deception and from visions that are born of flesh or ambition, and let every leading be tested and confirmed by Scripture. Fulfill what You have purposed, for we know You are faithful to complete what You begin, and Your plans are to give hope and a future. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. Lead by Your light, establish each step, and let this life bear fruit for Your glory. In Jesus mighty and powerful name we pray, amen.

Thank you for sharing this desire with us to follow God's leading rather than just your own plans. That willingness to be led is a humble and good place to be.

We understand the longing for a clear vision, something unmistakable to follow. In our experience God does guide His people, but not always through a dramatic picture or moment. Often His leading comes more quietly as we stay close to Him in prayer, stay rooted in what we already know of His character, and invite wise, faithful people to help us weigh what we sense.

A simple next step that helps many is to keep a short time each day to be still before the Lord, bring your plans and questions openly, and then notice what aligns with love for Him and love for others, what brings peace and bears good fruit over time. Writing those impressions down and talking them through with a pastor or mature believer can bring clarity and keep you from feeling you must figure it out alone.

We are praying for you to have wisdom and a steady sense of His presence as you seek Him.

Father, thank You for this heart that wants to follow You. Give our friend clear wisdom, humility to hear You, and patience to walk step by step with You. Lead in the way that is best and keep them close to You. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your request and we join you in thanking God that you desire to follow His counsel rather than your own personal goals, for that desire itself is a work of His grace upon the heart.

You have quoted Proverbs 29:18, and we would gently set that precious text in its true light that you may be the more comforted. The vision there spoken of is not a private mystical sight, but the revealed Word and counsel of God. Where there is no prophetic revelation, no faithful preaching and hearing of God's Word, the people cast off restraint and perish. Give us but a Word out of God's mouth and we can live upon it. The sure vision we need is already given in Holy Scripture, which is invested with Divine authority and is able to make us wise unto salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

Your prayer that God would fulfil the visions He gives is according to His character, for with Him is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and every good gift cometh down from the Father of lights. His purpose is infallible and still moving on, though we are but waves upon His great sea. It is a wonderful thing how God effects His purpose while still the creature is free, and His wisdom appears most clearly when self goes and human wisdom is laid aside. What you need, and what we will ask the Lord to give you, is not merely a new sight with the eyes, but Divine guidance, that you may be guided by His counsel and afterward received to glory.

Scripture shows us how that guidance comes. First, be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There you find His unchanging will, His holiness displayed in Christ, and His love declared at the cross where the blood of Jesus cleanses from all sin. Second, there are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the Divine will. When grace dethrones obstinacy and gives acquiescence in the Divine will, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Haste is the author of much mischief, but to wait upon the Lord and to observe His wondrous works as His pupil, declaring them with heart and life, is the way of peace.

Therefore we pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that Your purpose stands forever. We thank You for this soul who would not follow mere personal goals but would be led by You. Fulfil Your good purpose in this life according to Your infallible counsel. Open the eyes of understanding to behold wondrous things out of Your law. Grant Divine Wisdom dressed in love and tenderness, that Your Word may be a lamp unto the feet and a light unto the path. Teach as You have taught Your people from youth, and make this one Your pupil, quick to hear, ready to obey, and faithful to declare Your wondrous works. Keep from the error of seeking visions apart from Scripture, and give instead a clear sight of Christ, Your well beloved Son, in whom alone is salvation, and a heart that rests in His finished work. Guide with Your counsel day by day, purify as a Refiner, and manifest Your power and love in present trials, that self may decrease and Your glory may appear. This we ask in Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire not to follow only personal goals but to be led by God is good and worthy of prayer, and I join you in asking the Lord to guide you clearly.

The word translated vision in Proverbs 29:18 does not mean an ecstatic sight or dream sought at will, but the prophetic word of God, His revealed counsel. Where that revelation is neglected, the people cast off restraint. In our day that revelation has been given fully in Scripture, and it is there that God most surely shows His will.

In the Scriptures you will see that God gave open visions sovereignly and for particular reasons. To some who were full of faith He gave no outward vision at all, because faith was sufficient and He alone knows the secrets of the heart. To others, more dull or in need of special confirmation as with the shepherds or Zacharias, He granted a marvellous appearance. The apostles themselves had the sound of wind and tongues of fire, but not for their own sake so much as for those present who needed a sign. Signs are for those who do not yet believe, while for those who believe, faith sufficing instead of all, and the sure testimony of the Spirit in the word, is enough. Even the great revelations given to Paul were not sought by him but granted by grace for the good of the Church.

This does not mean God cannot or does not give a dream or a clear inward assurance today, for He is free to reveal as He wills. It means we should not make the receiving of such experiences the test of His guidance, nor seek them as if without them we cannot know His way. Instead seek Him where He has promised to be found, in humble prayer, in constant reading and obedience to Scripture, in wise counsel, and in the quiet work of the Holy Spirit making the mind sound and the vision of the soul healthy and free from confusion.

So let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, Father of lights with whom there is no variation, we thank You for Your unchanging word and for Your Spirit who leads Your people. Grant to this Your servant not confusion but clarity, not dependence on personal ambition but a heart that loves Your will. Open the eyes of understanding to see what You have already revealed in Scripture, give wisdom to discern Your ways, and grant obedience to walk in them. If it pleases You to grant any special assurance or direction, we receive it with thanksgiving, but above all make faith firm and the path plain through Your word, that life may be ordered according to Your good purpose. Keep this soul from following empty imaginations and establish it in Christ, in whose mighty name we ask these things. Amen.
