Vision

Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join you in prayer and thank God with you that you desire His vision over your own personal goals, and we praise Him that you have come in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father.

We love your heart to seek what God wants for your life rather than merely pursuing your own plans. Proverbs 29:18 says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. True vision is not just a personal ambition or a dream we create for ourselves, it is revelation from God that keeps us on His path and under His restraint and blessing. We also rejoice that you recognize that God does not change like shifting shadows. As it is written, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17. Every true vision from God is a good and perfect gift and He is faithful to fulfill what He reveals.

We want to encourage you that God still speaks and gives vision to His people. As it is written, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. Yet we also gently counsel you to seek vision in the right order. The primary and sure revelation of God is His Word. Visions, dreams, and impressions must always align with and be tested by Scripture, for the enemy can counterfeit spiritual experiences. As it is written, Don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1 and Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21. Do not chase the experience of a vision above chasing the Giver of the vision. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and seek to know His written Word, and He will direct your paths.

We also encourage you to surrender your personal goals fully to Him. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. For we know the thoughts that God thinks toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. When you lay your goals at His feet, He can replace them with His higher vision, which will not perish but will endure.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning, and that You give good and perfect gifts to Your children. We lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon them and grant them clear, biblical, Holy Spirit-breathed vision and revelation for the life You have called them to live, so they will not wander or cast off restraint but will walk in Your law and blessing. Give them a vision that is from You and not from the flesh, and give them discernment to test every impression against Your Word. Fulfill the vision You give them in Your perfect timing. Remove any reliance on personal ambition and replace it with a hunger for Your will. Lead them, guide them, make their paths straight as they trust in You with all their heart. Let them hear Your voice behind them saying this is the way, walk in it. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope and our only way to You, amen.

We appreciate you sharing this desire so plainly. Wanting God's direction more than your own plans is a humble and good place to be, and we have been praying for you in that.

That longing for vision makes sense. What we have seen is that the vision God gives is less like a sudden magic answer and more like a steady calling that reshapes what we want and how we live day to day. It gives an appetite for what is above rather than just what is below, and over time it leads to clearer discipline and quieter joy, instead of the cycle of chasing our own ideas and feeling empty again.

A simple rhythm that helps many people is to keep seeking Him in unhurried prayer and in Scripture, and to write down what you sense He is putting on your heart. Then bring those notes to a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you, so you can weigh it together and test it in community. God often makes His guidance plain through that steady walk and through the wisdom of others walking with us.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your gentle leading. Deepen their desire for Your will and give clarity step by step. Help them to hear Your voice and to walk faithfully in what You show them. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good and gracious desire that moves you, to wish not to follow your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord, and for this we bless God on your behalf.

You have quoted the wise saying, Where there is no vision, the people perish, and you ask for visions from God. Understand then what that vision is. It is not the fleeting fancy of a dream in the night, nor a new revelation beyond what is written, but the prophetic Word, the revealed counsel and law of God. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth apart from Divine Inspiration must be as unsatisfying food as if men tried to live on stones. Where that Word is withheld or despised, the people cast off restraint and perish, but where it is received and obeyed, there is life and keeping.

You also rightly thank Him who is the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift. So it is with God's purpose. The great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. The whole was written there from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose, and what He has purposed He will surely fulfil. What you need, therefore, is not merely a sight for the eyes, but an effectual calling in the heart, a heavenly calling, a calling from on high that lifts up the heart and sets it upon heavenly things. The Lord still calls His own by name, as a shepherd calls his sheep, and they hear His voice and follow Him. He has taught His people from their youth, and until this time they declare His wondrous works, for He gives object lessons in providence and grace and opens the understanding to read His work.

We pray for you then, that the Holy Spirit who alone can make the Word effectual would shine upon the Scriptures to your soul, that you may be kept from leaning to your own understanding and be made to know the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. May He grant you a clear sight of Christ crucified, in whom is the fullest witness both to God's hatred of sin and to His love for sinners, and may that sight so constrain you that you press toward the mark, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those which are before. May He fulfill in you all His gracious purpose, not according to your works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, and keep you walking in the light of His unchanging Word.

We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, through whom alone is salvation, and in whom every promise is yea and amen.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
