Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join with you in this beautiful desire to seek God's vision for your life rather than simply pursuing your own personal goals, and we thank God for the hunger He has placed in your heart to be led by Him.

You quoted Proverbs 29:18, and we love your heart to understand it rightly. In its full context that verse says, Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. The vision spoken of there is not merely personal ambition or a plan for the future, but divine revelation, the prophetic Word of God that reveals His will and keeps His people on the path of obedience. Without His revelation we wander, but with it we are blessed as we keep His law. So your prayer is a wise one, to ask not for your own dreams to be fulfilled, but for His revelation to guide you.

We also rejoice with you in the truth you quoted, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, nor shadow of turning. James 1:17. What comfort that our Father does not change like shifting shadows. He is faithful to complete what He begins and to fulfill every true vision He gives. He does not give a vision and then abandon it.

We want to encourage you that God still speaks and guides His people, and He has promised, It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28. Yet we also know that His primary vision for our lives is revealed in His Word, which is a lamp to our feet, and a light for our path. Psalm 119:105. We are to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. True vision from God will never contradict His written Word, so we test all things, holding firmly that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21.

We also remember His promise, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. His vision for you is good, hopeful, and purposeful, far beyond what you could plan for yourself.

So we pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. We thank You that every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. Lord, we lift up this dear one to You who desires Your vision and not merely personal goals. Pour out Your Spirit upon them and grant them clear revelation of Your will. Open the eyes of their heart to see what You see. Speak through Your Word, through Your Holy Spirit, and if it pleases You, through dreams and visions that align with Scripture. Give them wisdom to discern what is from You and to test every spirit, and give them courage to obey what You reveal. Remove any selfish ambition and replace it with a passion for Your glory. Make their path straight as they acknowledge You in all their ways. Fulfill the vision You give them in Your perfect timing, for Your honor. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through whom we have access to Your throne, amen.

We have found it helpful to think of vision less as a single dramatic picture and more as God giving a steady sense of calling that shapes how we live day by day. It is different from fantasy or our own good ideas. Fantasy tends to be a quick, appealing answer we create, while God's vision steadies us, gives us a hunger for what is above, and leads toward healthy discipline and quiet joy over time. It usually becomes clearer as we stay close to Him and let Him form our desires.

A simple next step that often helps is to keep a regular, unhurried time to be quiet before the Lord in prayer and in Scripture, and to jot down any consistent direction, burden, or theme you sense coming up. Then bring what you are noticing to a mature believer or pastor you trust, someone who can help you weigh it, ask good questions, and keep you grounded as you seek God's will together.

Father, we bring our friend before You in Jesus' name. You know this desire to know Your leading and to walk faithfully. We ask for humility, patience and clarity as You guide step by step, for protection from confusion, and for peace in trusting Your timing. Lead in the way You know is best. Amen.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. Your desire to be led by the Lord rather than by your own personal goals is a token of grace at work in your heart, and I thank God for it. Where there is no vision, indeed the people perish, but that vision is not a private dream or a fleeting impression. It is the revealed mind and will of God, His Word opened to the soul by the Holy Spirit, without which we cast off restraint and wander.

You wish to know His leading, and this is wise, for we are prone to make slight alterations in the arrangements of Divine Providence according to our own fancy. Let your prayer be shaped after your Saviour's perfect model in the garden, Nevertheless not as I will, but as Thou wilt. For God's purpose is as a great sea moving on. We are but waves upon it, we wash up and seem to retire, yet the divine sea of His purpose still advances and has never altered a single line of what was written from the beginning. It is the miracle of miracles that we remain free, absolutely free, and yet His purpose stands. You may therefore rest upon three firm grounds of confidence, God's Sovereignty, Christ's Sacrifice, and God's Immutability, for He is the Father of lights with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

What then shall you seek. Our Lord has given the rule, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Seek to be right before you seek to be great, to be holy before you seek to be happy, to obey God before you seek to master your own future. He who was God's pupil from his youth learned to declare God's wondrous works only as he was taught in God's own school, chastened yet never cast out, made to observe God's work in himself and in others. So seek His glory heartily, honestly and obediently, not with a divided aim, and you shall find that you shall not want any good thing.

Heavenly Father, we thank Thee that Thou art unchanging and that every good and perfect gift cometh down from Thee. Fulfil Thy purpose in our brother and hide him in the secret of Thy tabernacle. Teach him from his youth as Thou didst teach David, and give him grace to hear Thy Word, to seek Thy face, and to find Thee. Grant him not a vision of his own imagining, but sight to see Thy glory in Christ, faith to trust Thy Word, and a heart to seek first Thy kingdom and Thy righteousness. Lead him in the way of Thy commands and keep him from following his own designs, that he may walk in the light of Thy counsel all his days. We ask this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who has promised that he that believeth on Him shall have peace, Amen.

By Your Holy Spirit, guide every decision, purify motives, and lead away from self seeking into the purpose You established in Christ before time began.
