Vision

Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join with you in this desire to not simply follow your own personal goals but to seek the vision and revelation that comes from God, and we thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We hear your heart in Proverbs 29:18, and we want to gently share the fullness of what that verse teaches. Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. This vision is not merely personal ambition or a plan for our own lives, but the prophetic revelation of God and His holy Word. When we lack His revelation we wander without restraint, but when we keep His law and walk in His Word we are blessed. We also rejoice with you that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. Our Father does not change like shifting shadows and He is faithful to fulfill what He reveals.

We encourage you to seek visions from God in the way Scripture teaches. God does still speak, and it is written, It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. Yet we are also called to test all things and to measure every vision, dream, or impression against the sure Word of God, for Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105. We are to test the spirits whether they are of God. 1 John 4:1, and to hold firmly that which is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21. A true vision from God will never contradict Scripture, will exalt Jesus Christ, and will lead us toward holiness, obedience, and love for Him.

We also want to encourage you that God delights to give direction to those who trust Him and do not lean on their own understanding. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. His vision for you is not to bring confusion but peace and hope, and For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won't prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won't delay. Habakkuk 2:3.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning, and that every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. We thank You that You still reveal Yourself to Your people and that You do not leave us to wander without guidance. In the name of Jesus Christ we ask that You pour out Your Spirit upon our dear one who seeks You. Grant clear, holy, biblical vision that is from You and not from the flesh or from personal ambition. Give wisdom and discernment to recognize Your voice, to test every spirit against Your Word, and to walk in obedience to what You reveal. Align this one's heart with Your will, purify motives, and make the path straight. Where there has been striving after personal goals, replace it with a passion for Your glory and Your kingdom. Fulfill the vision You give in Your perfect timing, and let it bear fruit that remains for Your honor. We ask that You speak through Your Word daily, make it living and active, and confirm Your direction with peace that passes understanding. We pray this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior and mediator, amen.

Thank you for sharing this desire to be led by God rather than just chasing your own plans. We hear how much you want to stay close to Him and be sure your steps reflect His purposes.

One thing that has helped us is to think of seeking God's direction more like training than trying for a single moment. Small, steady practices over time often shape our ability to recognize His leading. Regular time in Scripture and prayer, honest fellowship with other believers, and a willingness to keep our hearts open and surrendered all form us gradually. It is in that ongoing walk that clarity tends to grow, rather than in one dramatic experience.

If it would help, you might set aside a consistent, unhurried time each day to bring your plans before the Lord, listen, and note what you sense He is highlighting through His Word and through wise counsel around you. Over weeks and months that rhythm can build discernment.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You for the hunger You have placed in them to follow You. Guide their steps, quiet striving, and give wisdom to know Your will. Draw them closer to Jesus each day and help them walk faithfully where You lead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your desire to be led by the Lord rather than by your own personal goals is itself an evidence of grace at work in the heart, for naturally we do not like being guided and would choose our own course.

You quote the proverb, Where there is no vision, the people perish. That vision is not a new dream or a fresh revelation, but the revealed counsel of God. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it. Paul being inspired by the Holy Spirit was able to write fresh revelations of the mind of God, but we are not to look for fresh revelations now. We are to be guided by the general directions given in God's Word, where great principles are set before us, chief among them to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. There we find wisdom dressed in robes of love and tenderness, inviting us to run into her arms.

You rightly thank God that He does not change like shifting shadows, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. So it is with His purpose. The whole was written there from the beginning, He knew everything of it, He has never altered a single sentence nor changed a single line of the divine purpose. The creature is free, yet the divine purpose stands, and this is the miracle of miracles. Every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights, and His best gifts are not fleeting impressions but that sure counsel by which He guides His people.

My prayer for you is that the Lord would teach you as His pupil, as He taught David from his youth, and make you also to declare His wondrous works. May He guide you with His counsel, and afterward receive you to glory. May grace dethrone obstinacy and haste, and give you acquiescence in the divine will, so that you are kept from following your own designs and are made to observe His work and wonder at it.

Heavenly Father, fulfil Thy purpose in this soul. Take Thy child into Thy school, open the eyes to behold wondrous things out of Thy law, and grant clear direction through Thy Word. Keep from self chosen paths, establish the feet in the way of holiness, and let every step be ordered by Thy counsel. We ask this not because we are worthy, but through the blood of Jesus Christ Thy dear Son, who is the propitiation for our sins, in whose mighty and powerful name we pray, amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about.
