Vision

Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.


Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

We join with you in this desire to seek the Lord's direction above your own personal goals and we are encouraged that you have asked in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We love your heart for Proverbs 29:18 which says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. This reminds us that true vision is not merely our own plans or ambitions, but the revealed will and word of God which keeps us from wandering and anchors us in His law. We also join you in praising our Father who does not change, for Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17.

We do pray that the Lord will lead you clearly and we ask Him to give you spiritual eyes to see His will, whether through His word, through godly counsel, or through visions and dreams as He wills. It is written It will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17. We know God still speaks, yet we also remember that God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, has at the end of these days spoken to us by his Son Hebrews 1:1-2, and His written word is our sure foundation for testing every vision. For this reason we encourage you to test what you see and hear, for Beloved, don’t believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God 1 John 4:1, and to hold every vision up to Scripture.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning, and that You fulfill what You reveal. We lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus and ask that You grant clear revelation of Your will so that they do not lean on their own understanding but acknowledge You in all their ways. Pour out Your Spirit upon them, give them dreams and visions if it is Your will, and above all give them discernment and a deep love for Your word. Lead them away from merely following personal goals and guide them into Your perfect plan, for we know Your thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give us hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. Teach them to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. We ask that You instruct and teach them in the way they shall go and counsel them with Your eye upon them Psalm 32:8. Let every vision they receive be from You, be true, and bear fruit for Your glory. We ask this in Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in the word, to wait patiently for His timing, and to seek confirmation through Scripture and mature believers. As you delight yourself in Him, He will make your paths straight and fulfill the vision He has planted in your heart.

We are grateful you shared this desire so honestly. Wanting to be led by God rather than just following your own plans is a humble and good prayer, and we are glad to stand with you in it.

We have found that the kind of vision God gives is less about chasing a dramatic picture and more about learning to walk closely with Him day by day so our desires become shaped by Him. It gives direction and a thirst for what matters to Him, rather than just our own ideas. That kind of vision grows as we stay near Him.

A simple next step that helps many is to keep a steady, unhurried time in Scripture and prayer, not looking for a sign on demand but asking the Lord to align your heart with His will, and then to talk through what you are sensing with a mature believer or pastor who knows you. They can help you test what you hear and see next steps more clearly.

We are praying for you.

Father, we thank You that You love to lead Your children. Give our friend wisdom and clarity, quiet any pressure to manufacture direction, and help him to know Your will and walk faithfully in it. Draw him closer to You each day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing to be led by the Lord rather than by your own personal goals is a right and gracious desire, and it is good that you would bring it before Him in prayer.

The vision of which Proverbs speaks is not a fleeting dream of our own imagination, but the revealed counsel and Word of God. Where that Word is not known and obeyed, the people perish, but give us but a Word out of God's mouth and we can live upon it. All other words apart from Divine Inspiration are as unsatisfying as stones for bread. The safest prayer, therefore, is not for new revelations apart from Scripture, but that the Holy Spirit would open your eyes to see and to love what God has already spoken, and to walk in it.

Remember that the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. What He has purposed from the beginning He has never altered a single line to change, and He effects His purpose while still the creature is free. This is the miracle of miracles, that though we are free, His joy and His purpose stand. You are not left to chart your own course alone. He takes His people into His school and teaches them from their youth, educating faith through trials and struggles, and then makes them to declare His wondrous works. So first be guided by the general directions given in God's Word, and by the great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the Divine will. When self goes, God comes in, and when human wisdom goes, then God's Wisdom appears. Haste is the author of much mischief, but to be guided by His counsel is the sure path to glory.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows, with whom is no variableness neither shadow of turning, and that every good and perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights. We thank You that Your purpose is infallible and Your Word is invested with Divine authority. We ask that You would make this Your pupil to see Your counsel clearly in the Scriptures, to be taught by You and to love Your will above all personal goals. Grant illumination by Your Spirit, that Your Word would be a lamp to the feet and that acquiescence to Your will would give unerring guidance. Fulfil in this life what You have purposed for Your glory, and guide with Your counsel until afterward You receive us to glory. We ask this in Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind.
