We join you in thanking God that He is the Father of lights with whom there is no variableness nor shadow of turning and that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above as you quoted in James 1:17. We rejoice with you in your desire not to follow your own personal goals but to seek the vision and revelation that comes from God alone.
We love your heart after Proverbs 29:18 which says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. In many translations this is rendered where there is no vision the people perish, and the meaning is the same, without God revealing His will and His Word, we lose direction and restraint. True vision is not merely personal ambition or a plan we make for ourselves, but God revealing His purposes to us so we can walk in obedience.
We also remember the promise in Acts 2:17 that in the last days God said I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions. Your old men will dream dreams. God does still speak and give vision, but we are taught to test what we receive against His written Word, for His Word is the sure foundation. We are told in 1 John 4:1 to test the spirits whether they are of God, and in Proverbs 3:5-6 to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Your prayer not to just follow your own personal goals is pleasing to God. Scripture reminds us in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And in Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. And in Romans 12:2 Don’t be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Godly vision will always align with His character, His Word, and will lead us closer to Christ and to keeping His law, not away from it.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this heart that longs for Your vision and not merely human ambition. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ that You grant revelation according to Your perfect will. Pour out Your Spirit and give clarity, wisdom and discernment to recognize what is truly from You. Help our dear one to delight in Your Word daily, for Your Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path in Psalm 119:105. Make Your will known clearly, and give patience to wait for it, for the vision in Habakkuk 2:3 says For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. Don’t delay. We pray that any vision You give will be fulfilled in Your time and for Your glory, since You do not change like shifting shadows and You are faithful to complete what You have spoken. Lead away from selfish goals and into the good, well pleasing and perfect will You have prepared. Give humility to lay down personal plans and courage to obey when You speak, whether through Your Word, through Your Spirit, or through godly counsel. We ask all this in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus, our only access to You, for in John 14:6 Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking Him earnestly in prayer and in the Scriptures, to wait quietly before Him, and to seek confirmation through His Word and through mature believers. As you commit your works to Yahweh in Proverbs 16:3 Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed, He will establish your thoughts and direct your steps. We trust He will give you His vision and the grace to walk in it for His glory.
