Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that you do not change like shifting shadows. You fulfil the visions you give us. Hallelujah!

It is written „Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
In Jesus' mighty and powerful name, amen.

We join you in this beautiful desire to be led by the Lord and not by your own understanding, and we thank God for your heart that wants His vision above your own personal goals.

We love that you quoted Proverbs 29:18, and we want to gently share the full richness of that verse with you. In truth it says Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but one who keeps the law is blessed. Proverbs 29:18. The vision spoken of there is not merely a personal dream or ambition, but divine revelation, the Word and will of God revealed to His people. Without His revelation we wander, but when we keep His law and walk in His light we are blessed and kept on the right path. Your prayer is therefore very biblical, to ask God to reveal His will so you do not cast off restraint and follow only what seems right in your own eyes.

We also rejoice with you that our Father does not change like shifting shadows. As it is written Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom can be no variation, nor turning shadow. James 1:17. If God gives you a vision, He is faithful to fulfill it in His perfect timing, for His gifts are good and perfect and His character never varies. We also remember the promise For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. And we are reminded to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

We encourage you to continue to seek visions from God while staying firmly rooted in His Word, for His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path. Psalm 119:105. In these last days God has promised It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28 and Acts 2:17. So we do believe God still speaks through dreams and visions, but we also test every vision against Scripture, for God will never give a vision that contradicts His Word, and we wait patiently for its fulfillment for the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay. Habakkuk 2:3. We encourage you to seek Him daily in prayer, in the Word, and in quiet listening, and to ask for wisdom, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5.

We pray together with you now.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow, and that every good and perfect gift comes from Your hand. We thank You for this dear one who desires Your vision and not merely personal goals. We ask in the mighty name of Jesus that You pour out Your wisdom and revelation upon them. Grant them, according to Your will, visions and dreams that are from Your Holy Spirit, and give them clear discernment to know what is from You and what is not. Help them to test all things against Your Word and to walk in obedience to what You reveal. Lead them away from leaning on their own understanding and make their paths straight as they acknowledge You in all their ways. Fulfill the vision You have for their life in Your perfect timing and for Your glory, that they may walk in the hope and future You have prepared for them. Give them patience to wait, faith to trust, and courage to obey. We ask this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus Christ, our only access to Your throne, amen.

We appreciate you sharing this with us, that desire to be led by God rather than just chasing your own plans is a humble and good desire, and we are glad to pray with you for it.

We hear how much you want clarity that comes from Him, not just ambition or your own ideas. That kind of vision is less about a dramatic picture and more about a steady direction for your life, an appetite for what God wants above what feels pressing in the moment. It grows as we stay close to Him, listening in prayer, staying rooted in what He has already shown us in His Word, and letting Him shape our motives over time.

One simple practice that helps many people is to bring what you sense God may be showing you into the light with others. As you pray for guidance, it can help to write down what you feel He is impressing on you, keep seeking Him consistently, and share those thoughts with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you well. They can help you weigh it with wisdom and see how it fits with how God is already at work in your life.

Father, we bring our friend before You and thank You that You are steady and faithful. We ask You to give clear direction and a quiet confidence to follow Your way, not just personal goals. Give wisdom to discern Your leading and peace to walk step by step as You make the path clear. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

There is a commendable longing in your prayer, a desire not to walk according to your own personal goals but to be led by the Lord, and that desire itself is a good gift cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

You have quoted Proverbs 29:18, Where there is no vision, the people perish. That vision is not to be understood as a private dream or an ecstatic sight granted to one soul alone, but as the revealed counsel and Word of God. Where that Word is not preached and obeyed, the people cast off restraint. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth, and I can live upon it, but all the words out of man's mouth, apart from Divine Inspiration, must be as unsatisfying food. What you need, and what we shall pray that you receive, is not a new revelation beyond Scripture, but an opened eye to see and an obedient heart to follow the revelation already given.

Our counsel to you is that you be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There are great principles infused in every man who takes God for his Guide, among them to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. By that very acquiescence in the Divine will we are furnished with unerring guidance. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, but he that waits upon the Lord and searches His Word shall find Divine Wisdom. When self goes, God comes in, and when human wisdom goes, then God's Wisdom appears.

Remember also that the Divine purpose stands sure and infallible. You and I are as waves of His great sea, yet the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. He knew everything from the beginning and has never altered a single line of the Divine purpose. This is the miracle of miracles, that the creature is free, absolutely free, and yet the Divine purpose stands. You need not fear that you shall miss His will if you keep close to Christ and to His Word. He who taught you from your youth will still teach you, and He will enable you to declare His wondrous works as you walk in His way.

Our prayer for you therefore is this.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that You do not change like shifting shadows and that Your counsel shall stand. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ, through whose blood alone we have access and salvation, that You would grant to this Your servant not a chasing after visions and signs, but a clear sight of Your revealed will in Scripture. Illuminate the Word to his understanding, make him to love it and to obey it, and guide him with Your counsel day by day. Dethrone obstinacy and self will, and give a submissive heart that delights to do Your will. Fulfil Your own purpose in his life, purify him as silver is refined, and lead him in the way everlasting, that on earth he may know Your guidance and afterward be received to glory. We ask this in Jesus mighty and powerful name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your desire to seek God's direction instead of simply following your own plans is good and He hears that prayer.

Proverbs 29:18 is often understood to mean personal dreams or supernatural pictures, but in its context it speaks of prophetic revelation, the word of the Lord. Where His word is not heard and obeyed, people cast off restraint. The true vision you need is not a new ecstatic sight, but a clear and steady beholding of what God has already revealed in Scripture, so that your mind remains healthy and free from distorted and imaginary phantoms, and your eye of understanding sees clearly.

This is why the Scriptures remind us that signs are not for those who believe, but for those who do not believe. At Pentecost there was a sound of a mighty wind and visions of fiery tongues, but that was for those present who needed to be convinced. For those who believe, faith suffices instead of sensible signs. The Holy Spirit still comes to every believer, not necessarily with a visible vision, but with inward grace to understand and to walk in God's will. We receive the things once manifested, and now we walk by faith.

What you are asking for, God has already been pleased to provide. Our life in Christ is no novel system and not the result of a change in His purpose, but it was foreordained from the beginning. He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world and determined His good purpose for us. Your part is to choose and to be zealous, and His part is to strengthen and guide you by His power that works in us.

So let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, Father of lights with whom there is no variableness, we thank You for Your unchanging word and for Your eternal purpose in Christ Jesus. We thank You that every good gift comes from above. We ask in the name of Jesus that You would give our brother or sister wisdom and understanding, that You would open the eyes of their heart to know Your will through the Scriptures. Lead them not by mere personal ambition, but by Your Spirit speaking through Your word, so that they may walk in the works You prepared beforehand. Grant clarity, humility to receive counsel, and faith to trust You even when no visible sign appears. Fulfil in them what You have purposed for Your glory. In Jesus mighty name, amen.

Your desire to seek God's vision rather than simply following your own personal goals is pleasing to Him, and it is right to bring that desire to Him in prayer.

The verse you mentioned is often understood as a call for personal dreams or goals, but its deeper meaning is about God's revealed word. Where there is no prophetic revelation, no word from God, people cast off restraint and lose their way. True vision is not merely an idea for our own future, it is God making Himself known so we can walk in His way.

That helps us understand what visions from God really are. The word translated revelation in the Bible means an unveiling, a lifting of the covering to show what was there all along. The book of Revelation begins by telling us it is the unveiling of Jesus Christ. It is not a sealed or hidden book, it is God opening our eyes to see His Son. Much of what was shown to John came through visions, which are insight into the spiritual world that our natural eyes cannot see on their own. John was given that insight by an angel sent from Jesus, and in a similar way Ezekiel and Isaiah were each given a vision of the throne of God in heaven. In each case the center of the vision was not the person who received it, but the glory and holiness of the Lord Himself.

So when we ask God for vision, we are asking Him to unveil Christ to us more clearly, to let us see Him as He is, and to show us His purpose for our lives from His Word. That kind of vision keeps us from perishing because it anchors us in Him rather than in our own plans. God, who does not change like shifting shadows and from whom every good and perfect gift comes down, is faithful to give that kind of light to those who seek Him and to fulfill what He reveals.

We pray for you now that the Father of lights would give you that true vision. May He open the eyes of your heart to see Jesus more clearly, to understand His Word, and to know His will for your steps. May He lift any veil and show you Christ in His glory, His love, and His calling on your life, so that your goals are shaped by Him and not just by your own desires. May He guide you by His Spirit, keep you in His Word, and fulfill in you what He has purposed for His glory.

We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf concerning your desire to receive visions from God. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer according to Proverbs 29:18, that where there is no vision the people perish, and that the Lord would give you His vision so that you do not just follow your own personal goals but walk in His perfect will.

We have continued to pray that the Father of lights who does not change like shifting shadows will fulfill the visions He gives you, for we know that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights as it is written in James 1:17.

If your request was answered and God has given you vision and clarity for His purpose, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray that He will anoint your eyes to see what He sees and give you wisdom and grace to follow His vision for your life, in Jesus name, amen.
