The text you quote is precious, Where there is no vision, the people perish, and that vision is not a fleeting dream of our own imagination but the revelation of God, His Word, His counsel. Give me but a Word out of God's mouth and I can live upon it. We who now have the Scriptures have that sure vision, for Paul being inspired was able to write fresh revelations of the mind of God, and we are to be guided by the general directions given in God's Word. There we find great principles infused into the soul, to avoid everything that is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God, and by that very acquiescence we are furnished with unerring guidance.
You ask for visions, and I would pray with you not for any new revelation beyond what God has spoken, but for illuminated sight to read His work and to understand His counsel. David tells us, O God, You have taught me from my youth, and until this time have I declared Your wondrous works. He was God's pupil in the school of affliction and of mercy, made to observe object lessons until he learned to wonder at God's wondrous work. So may you be kept as God's pupil, taught day by day, chastened but never cast out, learning to trace His hand in everything.
Remember also that the great divine sea of His purpose is still moving on. No purpose of His can be restrained, He knew everything from the beginning and has never altered a single line of the divine purpose, and yet this is the miracle of miracles, that the creatures are free, absolutely free, and yet the divine purpose stands. Your life is not left to chance or to your own poor planning. Every good gift and every perfect gift cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. He does not change like shifting shadows, and He fulfils what He reveals.
Therefore let us pray that you may be guided with His counsel and afterward received to glory, for on earth there is no true glory for any man who takes his own course.
