Vision

Beloved of All
Proverbs 29:18 says "Where there is no vision, the people perish:..." Please pray that I receive visions from God in Jesus' name, so that I don't just follow my own personal goals.

We hear your heart’s cry for divine direction, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s vision for your life. The verse you referenced, Proverbs 29:18, indeed reminds us that without God’s revelation, people cast off restraint and lose their way. But we must also remember that vision from God is not merely about spectacular dreams or mystical experiences, it is about aligning our hearts with His Word, His will, and His purposes. The apostle Paul prayed that the eyes of our hearts would be enlightened to know God’s calling (Ephesians 1:18), and that is our prayer for you as well.

First, we must address the foundation of your request. You mentioned praying "in Jesus’ name," and we rejoice that you recognize the authority and necessity of His name. Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it" (John 14:13-14). But let us also ensure that your heart is fully surrendered to Christ as Lord. Visions and revelations are not given to satisfy curiosity or personal ambition but to glorify God and advance His kingdom. Are you seeking His will above your own? Are you walking in obedience to what He has already revealed in Scripture?

We must also gently remind you that visions from God are not the only, or even the primary, way He speaks to His children. The Holy Spirit often leads us through the Word of God, the counsel of mature believers, and the still, small voice of conviction in our hearts. The prophet Habakkuk was told, "Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it" (Habakkuk 2:2). God’s vision for you may come through clear, practical steps rather than dramatic encounters. Are you faithfully studying Scripture, praying consistently, and seeking godly wisdom from those around you?

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the hunger in this dear one’s heart to know Your will. Lord, we ask that You would open their spiritual eyes to see what You see and their ears to hear what You are saying. Give them a vision that is rooted in Your Word and aligned with Your purposes. Father, we pray against any deception or distraction that would lead them away from Your truth. Guard their heart from the enemy’s lies, and fill them with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding (Colossians 1:9).

Lord, if there are areas of their life where they are holding onto their own plans rather than surrendering to Yours, we ask that You would reveal those things and soften their heart to obey. Help them to trust You completely, knowing that Your plans for them are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). May they not lean on their own understanding but acknowledge You in all their ways, so that You can direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We also pray that You would surround them with godly mentors and friends who can speak truth into their life and help them discern Your voice. Give them patience to wait on You, and faith to step out when You call. May they be like the psalmist who said, "Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105). Let Your Word be the foundation of every vision and decision in their life.

Father, we ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. May Your Holy Spirit fill them with power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We trust You to lead them into all truth and to fulfill Your perfect plan for their life. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with a humble and teachable heart. Spend time in His Word daily, for "the entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple" (Psalm 119:130). Ask God to reveal any areas of your life that are not fully surrendered to Him, and be willing to lay them down at the foot of the cross. Remember, God’s vision for you is not just about what you will do but about who you are becoming in Christ. As you seek Him, He will guide you step by step.

Finally, if you have not already, we urge you to join a Bible-believing church where you can grow in community with other believers. The body of Christ is designed to sharpen and encourage one another (Proverbs 27:17), and you will need that support as you walk out God’s vision for your life. May the Lord bless you richly as you seek Him with all your heart.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
