We hear your heart’s cry for divine guidance, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s vision for your life. It is beautiful that you desire to align your steps with God’s will rather than relying solely on your own understanding. Scripture reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6). Your request reflects a humble and teachable spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.

The verse you shared, Proverbs 29:18, indeed speaks to the importance of divine revelation: "Where there is no vision, the people perish; but he who keeps the law, happy is he." Vision here refers not merely to personal ambition but to the revelation of God’s purposes, His plans, His truth, and His direction for your life. We rejoice that you are seeking this above all else, for Jesus Himself said, "Seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:33).

We must also gently remind you that visions and dreams from the Lord are given according to His timing and purposes. They are not something we can demand or manufacture, but we can position ourselves to receive them through prayer, fasting, and immersion in His Word. The apostle James writes, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5). So we encourage you to continue seeking the Lord with a pure heart, trusting that He will speak to you in the ways He chooses, whether through His Word, the still small voice of the Holy Spirit, dreams, or the counsel of godly believers.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking Your vision and direction. Lord, You are the God who speaks, and we ask that You would open their spiritual eyes and ears to perceive Your will. Remove any distractions, doubts, or fears that may hinder them from hearing Your voice clearly. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in wisdom and discernment every day.

Father, we ask that You would grant them dreams, visions, or revelations that align with Your Word and Your purposes. May they not be led astray by their own desires or the influences of this world, but may they be firmly rooted in Your truth. Give them the courage to obey what You reveal, even when it challenges their plans or comfort. Surround them with godly mentors and fellow believers who can confirm and encourage them in Your ways.

Lord, we also ask that You would purify their heart and motives. Let their desire for vision be rooted in a love for You and a longing to serve Your Kingdom, not merely for personal fulfillment. Guard them from deception, and let Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). We declare that their steps are ordered by You, and that they will walk in the fullness of Your calling.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness to answer prayer. We trust that as they seek You with all their heart, they will find You (Jeremiah 29:13). May they experience the joy and peace that comes from walking in Your perfect will. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.

Continue to press into the Lord, dear one. Spend time in His presence, meditate on His Word, and remain sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit. The Lord delights in revealing Himself to those who seek Him earnestly. "Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great and mighty things, which you don’t know." (Jeremiah 33:3). You are not alone in this journey, God is with you, and we stand with you in faith, believing that He will guide your steps.

It’s a good thing you’re asking for, and we’re glad you reached out. Wanting God’s vision rather than just chasing our own ideas shows a heart that’s learning to listen. Many of us know what it’s like to look at a list of perfectly reasonable plans and still wonder, “Is this really what you have for me, Lord?” So we appreciate the honesty in your request.

One thing that helps us is bringing our actual, day-to-day goals into prayer and simply laying them open before Him, not with clenched fists but with open hands. It sounds simple, but pausing over each commitment or dream and saying, “Here’s what I’m aiming at, please redirect whatever part of this isn’t from You,” can make space for God’s deeper direction. Sometimes His vision comes less like a sudden blueprint and more like a steady realignment of our desires over time as we keep handing them back to Him.

We’re praying for you now, not that you’d feel pressured to “figure it all out” tonight, but that God would quietly bring into focus whatever next steps truly come from Him, and that He’d gently loosen your grip on anything driven more by fear or ego than by love for Him and others.

Father, thank you for stirring this desire in our friend’s heart. You promise to guide the humble, and we ask you to do that clearly. In the quiet moments, in the counsel of wise believers, and even in closed doors, speak in ways that can’t be mistaken. Guard them from drifting into merely personal ambition; anchor their goals in your kingdom purposes. We ask this in Jesus’ name.

It does my soul good to find a heart that trembles at the pursuit of its own devices and longs instead for the vision of the Most High. That is a spark of divine grace, for the natural man is content to be led by the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. Be of good cheer, then, and listen carefully.

The proverb you quote has been much misunderstood. When we read, “Where there is no vision, the people perish,” the vision is no fanciful trance, no secret whisper given apart from the Scripture. It is the prophetic word of God, the opening of His mind, the revealing of His will by the mouth of His servants. In these last days, God has spoken to us by His Son, and that Son has commanded His apostles and prophets, whose words we have in this blessed Book. To hunt after private visions in these days is to seek the living among the dead, and it opens a wide door to the snare of the fear of man and the delusions of the Evil One. The glory of God was to conceal many things from a former age, but it has pleased Him now to reveal them to babes in Christ Jesus by the indwelling Spirit, who makes the written Word to burn in our hearts like fire.

But you say, “I would not follow my own personal goals.” Ah, that is the very marrow of a sound conversion! The man who trusts in his own heart is a fool, but whoso puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe. Have you never discovered that the fear of man brings a snare, and that even the best of saints has dragged himself into the dust by this very thing? The vision you sorely need is the vision of His holiness that humbles pride, the vision of His sovereignty that stills rebellion, the vision of His grace that melts the heart. Do you wish to be wholly unhinged from self and centered upon the will of God? Then come and hide yourself in the strong tower of the name of the Lord. The Christian is not saved by what he is, but by what his God is; nor is he guided by the flickering light of his own inward impressions, but by the sure Word that makes wise the simple.

Let me groan with you in prayer, and then speak a word of plain direction. I would not have you go about looking for signs and wonders, for miraculous interpositions are not to be expected in these days, and to lean upon them would breed a feeble, fickle piety. But I would have you so filled with the Truth, so mastered by the reign of Christ in every chamber of your soul, that His statutes become your songs, and His testimonies your counselors. The path of obedience is the path of vision. He that willeth to do His will shall know of the doctrine. Have you ever felt the shame of your own poverty and sinfulness, so that you could not lift so much as your eyes to heaven? Then, soul, look away from self to the mercy seat, that cover of divine appointment which hides the condemning law, and hear the voice that saith, “Fear not; I have redeemed thee, thou art Mine.” That is the living vision that keeps a man from perishing.

I pray for you now: O Lord, Thou that didst say, “Fear not,” drive away from this seeking one every unholy fear that begets a doubt of Thy faithful character. Grant him grace to wait upon Thee, not with straining eye for some new revelation, but with unveiled face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord in the old, old story of the cross. May he be so humbled under Thy mighty hand that every thought is brought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. Let him not be a weathercock, turned by the wind of feeling, but a man steadfast and immovable, whose vision is the person of Jesus, the Friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Keep him from the pride that would invent a vision, and from the sloth that would despise the vision already given. And may it be said of him at the last, “He was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision,” because he walked in the light of Thy countenance, leaning upon his Beloved. Amen.

Go your way now, I charge you, to the lively oracles. Search the Scripture, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testify of Christ. There you shall find visions enough, visions of sin put away, visions of the King in His beauty, visions of the world to come, which shall set your dumb tongue speaking to the praise of free and sovereign grace. Never be afraid to trust God with all your tomorrows. He that has been your Help will be your Unfailing Guide, and that is better than a hundred thousand visions.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for visions from God, but consider what the Apostle teaches. When we have received the gospel, faith is enough; we do not require fresh signs. At Pentecost there was a sound of a mighty wind and tongues of fire, yet not for the apostles' sake, but for the unbelievers present. Now the Holy Spirit comes upon every believer in baptism, though no visible sign appears. Faith suffices now instead of all such sights, for signs are not for those who believe, but for those who do not believe.

If you seek visions so that you may not merely follow your own goals, then fix your desire on what has already been revealed. The Scriptures contain the true vision that keeps people from perishing. What you call your own personal goals must be brought under the will of God, not the other way around. The faithful heroes of old looked for a city whose builder and maker is God; they refused to be bound to earthly promises, and by longing desire they saw the blessings that were to come. That is vision: to set the mind on things above, to pursue the heavenly hope with such earnestness that earthly aims lose their grip.

Be careful that you do not seek signs as the Jews did, who always required a spectacle. God has sent prophets, given a written and natural law, sent his Son, and commissioned apostles. What further vision do you need? The desire for extraordinary revelations often proceeds from a heart that secretly wants a spectacle for its own sake, which can puff up. Even the great Apostle, when he prayed three times for the removal of a thorn, was told that God's power is made perfect in weakness, and so he learned to boast not in visions but in his infirmities, that the power of Christ might rest upon him.

Therefore, instead of asking for visions, ask for the grace to obey what you already know. Give yourself to hospitality, mercy, and the fear of God. If you have lost something and refrain from seeking diviners out of reverence for God's command, that is a sacrifice more pleasing than any vision. Do not wait for a special revelation to direct your steps; the will of God is declared openly. And when you pray and seem not to receive, do not repine. Paul himself was not always granted what he asked, yet he gave thanks either way, having put himself like clay in the potter's hand. True vision is faith working through love, looking to the city above, confident in the promises already given. That is how the people do not perish.

It is a wise and humble thing to ask God for a vision that is truly his, rather than simply chasing your own ambitions. The proverb you mention reveals a profound truth: when God’s revelation is absent, people lose their way. But what is a vision in the biblical sense? It is more than a personal five-year plan; it is a slice of insight from the spirit world, a glimpse of divine reality granted so that we might align our steps with his eternal purposes.

When the apostle John was exiled on Patmos, God gave him a sweeping revelation of Jesus Christ, delivered through visions, angels, and the words of the Lord himself. That revelation was not given for John’s entertainment but to show his servants what must soon take place. It was given to shape their hope, to purify their worship, and to anchor their hearts in the throne room of God. John saw the cherubim, the elders, and the Lamb upon the throne, and everything that followed flowed from that central vision of majesty and glory.

In the same way, when you pray for visions from God, you are asking to see through his eyes, to have your innermost being searched and directed by the One who judges motives, not just actions. You are asking to be set free from the narrow track of personal goals that so easily revolve around self, and to be caught up in a story far greater than your own. The Scriptures make it clear that you were created for God’s pleasure. That is why you exist. A true vision from God will always draw you away from mere self-fulfillment and into a life that brings him delight and bears witness of Jesus Christ.

Remember that the Spirit gives insight so that we might respond as he responds, love as he loves, and become his faithful representatives. You are not left alone to figure it out. He who searches the hearts will give according to your works, and his judgment is absolutely fair because he weighs the innermost intentions. So do not fear that God will ignore you or leave you without guidance. His promise is to set before you an open door, and his word is a lamp to your feet.

As you pray in Jesus’ name, ask not only for a vision but for the courage to walk in it, to keep the word of his patience, and to hold fast to your first love. The highest vision is always the living Christ himself, his cross and resurrection, and the hope of his coming kingdom. Let everything else flow from that. May you be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that your life echoes the constant worship around the throne: salvation belongs to our God and to the Lamb.
