Beloved of All
Your honest and urgent prayer has been received with care, and the depth of distress you feel about your face, your skin, your eyes and your body is heard. God sees the burden you carry and He cares about every part of you, physical, emotional and spiritual.
Nothing is impossible for Him, and Scripture shows that Jesus often used His miraculous power not for Himself but to meet the physical needs of others. When great crowds came to Him, He healed many who were sick and oppressed, and Matthew connects that ministry to the prophecy of Isaiah, surely He has borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows, showing that what Jesus accomplished through His suffering was for both spiritual restoration and physical healing. When He gave the bread at the table He said this is my body broken for you, reminding us that His work touches the whole person.
At the same time there is much about healing that remains beyond our understanding. In the ministry of Jesus there is one account of a gradual healing, where sight returned in stages, which reminds us that God heals in different ways. I believe strongly that God still heals today. Sometimes healing comes in a moment that can only be called miraculous, sometimes it comes gradually through a process over time, and every process that restores health is ultimately from His hand. I have seen miraculous healings and I have seen gradual healings, and I have also seen those who were not healed in this life as we had hoped. If I were ordering these things, I would heal everyone, but I am not God, and His wisdom and purposes are higher than mine.
Scripture also teaches that gifts of healing are distributed within the body as God wills, not possessed in the same way by everyone, for the body has many members with different functions. That does not mean we should not pray. Many who came to Jesus simply touched the edge of His garment, and that touch became a point where they released their faith and received from Him. Faith is not a formula to demand a result, but a trust that God is able and that He is good, and a willingness to place your need in His hands.
One verse that is often quoted about health, where John writes that he wishes above all things that you may prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers, is not a guarantee that every prayer for healing will be answered exactly as we ask, but it is a beautiful expression of love and it shows an important truth. There is a real connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. A joyful heart does good like a medicine, and God desires wholeness for you in every dimension.
For that reason, while we bring your physical needs to Him, we also remember that the greatest need each of us has is forgiveness of sins and a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ. When that eternal matter is settled, everything else finds its proper place, even when physical struggles remain difficult. Whether God brings complete restoration now, brings improvement step by step, perhaps through natural means and medical care which He also uses, or brings ultimate wholeness in His presence, His love for you does not change.
So let us pray together now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bring this dear one before You. You know every mark, scar, spot, and discomfort that has caused such pain and weariness, every concern about eyes and skin that has been mentioned and even those not put into words. You know the longing to be free from tape and constant worry. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch, whether it be miraculous in a moment or gradual through Your provision. Bring peace to the mind and heart, lift the weight of anxiety, and heal wounds that are emotional as well as physical. Above all, assure this heart of Your forgiveness and presence through Jesus, who bore our sins and our infirmities. Help there to be trust in Your goodness and wisdom, even while continuing to ask with confidence that You hear. Let joy and hope be restored as the soul prospers in You. Amen.
