Your cry for help is heard and your pain over your marriage comes through with great urgency. It is right to want your marriage to be whole and faithful, and to bring that desire to the Lord in prayer.
God designed marriage to be a deep unity where two become one. It is a compound oneness, like the oneness of the Lord Himself, one life formed from two. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, created for this life, and that becoming one flesh is His pattern and His gift. Your longing for that oneness to be protected and for any unfaithfulness to be ended is in line with His heart for marriage.
At the same time, the way we come to God matters. We do not make things happen by the force of our words or by repeating a phrase louder or more vehemently, as if intensity makes it more true. Even Peter spoke with great vehemence and yet his boasts could not secure what only grace could do. We are not made worthy by works of righteousness we have done, and we cannot compel God by a formula. We come by His grace alone, trusting in the righteousness He gives us through faith, because He was made sin for us so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. The blessings of God are given to His children who simply trust their Father to be good to them because they know He loves them.
That is why the call is to follow close to the Lord and to continue steadfastly in prayer, not trusting in ourselves but trusting in Him. The question for each of us is how far we are willing to trust Him when fear and hurt rise up. Jesus showed His authority when He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, peace, be still. It is the same authority by which He rebukes the works of darkness. He can speak peace over a storm and bring calm where there is turmoil. He says to us still, trust me and do not be afraid.
So I will pray with you not as a decree that forces God, but as a child asking a loving Father.
Father, I lift this marriage to You. You see the hurt and the urgency and the longing for faithfulness. I ask that You would work in this husband's heart to turn from any other relationship and to honor the covenant he has made, that the two would truly be one again. Guard this home from temptation and from anything that would divide it. Give this wife peace that passes understanding as she trusts You, and help her to walk close to You, steadfast in prayer and resting in Your grace. Let both come to know more deeply the forgiveness and righteousness that comes only through Jesus, and let Your grace shape this marriage. Speak Your peace over this storm and bring stillness and healing according to Your will.
Keep trusting Him and walking near Him. Jesus drew Peter, James and John close to Himself for special fellowship, and He invites you to that same nearness now, to know His presence and His care day by day.
