We hear the deep pain and anger in your heart, and we understand the desire for justice when we have been wronged. The hurt you feel is real, and we stand with you in seeking God’s intervention. However, we must gently remind you that our prayers should align with God’s heart and His Word, which calls us to forgiveness, mercy, and trust in His perfect justice—not vengeance.
The Bible tells us in Romans 12:19, *"Dearly beloved, don’t seek revenge yourselves, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’"* While it is right to ask God for justice, we must surrender our desire for personal retribution to Him, trusting that He sees all and will act in His perfect timing and way.
We also want to encourage you to examine your heart toward this person. Jesus teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15, *"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."* Holding onto bitterness and unforgiveness only harms you further. Instead, we pray that God would soften your heart to release this burden to Him and even pray for this person’s repentance and restoration.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who has been deeply wounded. Lord, You see the pain and injustice they have endured, and we ask that You would bring Your perfect justice in this situation. We trust in Your promise that vengeance belongs to You, and we surrender this person’s wrongdoing into Your hands. Forgive us, Lord, for any bitterness or desire for revenge that may have taken root in our hearts. Help us to release this burden to You and to walk in forgiveness, even as You have forgiven us.
Father, we pray for the one who has caused this hurt. Soften their heart, Lord, and bring them to a place of sincere repentance. Convict them of their wrongdoing and lead them to seek Your forgiveness and restoration. We ask that You would remove any peace from their life until they turn to You, but we also pray that You would draw them to Yourself so they may know Your grace and mercy.
Lord, we ask for Your healing touch to rest upon our brother/sister. Mend their broken heart, restore their joy, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help them to trust in Your timing and Your ways, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who bore our sins and injustices on the cross so that we might be reconciled to You. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
We encourage you to meditate on these scriptures as you seek healing and justice:
- *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* (Psalm 34:18)
- *"But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you."* (Matthew 5:44)
- *"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved."* (Psalm 55:22)
Lean on God’s promises, and allow His love to heal and restore you. If you need further counsel or prayer, we are here to stand with you.
