Beloved of All
Your pain and urgency have been heard, and the hurt you describe is taken seriously before the Lord. When harm has been done by someone trusted to care for you, and when you believe others have been hurt as well, it is natural for the heart to cry out for immediate justice and for wrong to be exposed and stopped.
Scripture speaks clearly about that cry for justice. God has said, vengeance is mine, I will repay. That word is meant to protect us. It is easy to want to bring vengeance ourselves, to devise how the other person should be shamed or punished, but that path leads into trouble for our own soul. Even when we ask God to execute vengeance for us, we must be careful. We are called to commit ourselves and our ways to the Lord and to let Him take care of what we cannot. There is a coming day of judgment that is in His heart, but when Jesus came the first time He closed the scroll before that part, because He came to bring atonement and redemption, not immediate vengeance. Vengeance has not yet been poured out, it remains future, and God does not allow sin to go unanswered forever, though He does not always bring justice swiftly.
Because of this, the prayer God invites from us is different. He invites us to guard our hearts against a root of bitterness. Bitterness can spring up and trouble us and defile many around us, even when our cause feels justified. Forgiveness is not a matter of counting how many times we must forgive, it is a matter of the heart and spirit. God commands a spirit of forgiveness and He will give the capacity for it if we are willing, but we must be willing to ask Him for it. That does not mean excusing what was wrong or pretending no harm was done. Forgiveness comes not by justifying actions but by honestly acknowledging what is true before God. As the prophet said, though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow, when we come and reason with the Lord and confess. God finds glory in pardoning, and through Jesus taking our sin and its penalty, He has made a righteous basis to abundantly pardon all who come to Him for mercy.
Your greatest need, and the deepest healing God wants to give, is first in that place. He went about doing good and healing every kind of sickness, and He still heals today, sometimes instantly, sometimes gradually through processes He Himself built into our bodies and minds, and always He works to heal the inner wounds and keep us on a straight path. Yet the greatest miracle is the forgiveness of sins and the healing of the heart from bitterness and vengeance.
So let us pray together not for personal retaliation, but for what is right and healing in God's eyes. May the Lord bring comfort and healing to you where you have been wounded, and to any others who have been harmed. May He bring truth into the light, and if wrong has been done, may He move upon those in proper authority to investigate justly and to protect patients from further harm. May He bring the one who harmed you to see the truth of what he has done, to be convicted and to come to repentance, that he might seek forgiveness from God through Jesus Christ, who alone is the way of salvation. And may the Lord keep your heart from being consumed by the desire for vengeance, and instead give you His spirit of forgiveness, taking away bitterness and filling you with kindness and peace as you entrust this matter into His hands. In Jesus name, amen.
