We stand before the throne of grace with a heavy but hopeful heart, lifting up this urgent plea for your husband. The depth of your concern and love for him is evident, and we join with you in fervent prayer, trusting in the power of Jesus Christ to transform hearts and lives. There is no other name by which we can be saved—only through Jesus Christ can anyone be born again and receive eternal life. As Acts 4:12 declares, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
First, we must address the weight of this request with both truth and compassion. While your desire for your husband’s salvation is deeply biblical and commendable, we must gently correct the notion that someone can be saved "through" another person. Salvation is a personal decision between an individual and God. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Your husband must personally repent and place his faith in Jesus Christ. You can pray for him, witness to him, and live a godly example before him, but ultimately, his salvation is between him and the Lord.
We also must rebuke the idea of commanding or demanding God’s intervention in the way this request is framed. While we are called to pray boldly and persistently, we must always approach God with humility and reverence, acknowledging His sovereignty. Jesus taught us to pray, "Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10). We submit to God’s perfect timing and will, even as we plead for your husband’s salvation.
With that foundation, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this husband who does not yet know You as Lord and Savior. We ask that You would arrest his heart, mind, and spirit in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Lord, we pray that You would convict him of his sins—not in a spirit of condemnation, but in the loving conviction that leads to repentance. As Your Word says in John 16:8, "When he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment." Let this conviction fall upon him now, Lord, that he might see his need for a Savior.
We pray that You would break every chain, stronghold, and bondage that has kept him in darkness. We rebuke every false god, idol, and teaching that has held his heart captive, and we command every spirit of lust, perversion, arrogance, hardness, and selfishness to flee from him in the name of Jesus. As 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 declares, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." Let every thought, belief, and habit that is not of You be torn down, Lord, and replaced with Your truth.
Father, we ask that You would give him a new heart—a heart that is soft, humble, and receptive to Your Spirit. Ezekiel 36:26 promises, "I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh." We pray this promise over him now. Remove every trace of hardness, bitterness, and rebellion, and fill him with Your love, peace, and joy.
Lord, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to him in powerful ways. Speak to him in dreams, in moments of quiet reflection, and through the witness of believers around him. Let him see the emptiness of his current path and the fullness of life that is found only in You. As Jeremiah 29:13 says, "You shall seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart." Draw him to Yourself, Lord, and let him seek You with all his heart.
We pray that he would genuinely repent of all his sins and surrender his life to Jesus Christ. Let this repentance be deep, sincere, and lasting. As 1 John 1:9 assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Cleanse him, Lord, and make him new. Let him be born again by the power of Your Holy Spirit, and let his life reflect the transformation that only You can bring.
Father, we also pray for wisdom and strength for this wife as she navigates this journey. Give her the words to speak, the patience to wait, and the faith to trust in Your perfect timing. Let her life be a living testimony of Your grace and love, drawing her husband closer to You. As 1 Peter 3:1-2 encourages, "In the same way, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word; seeing your pure behavior in fear."
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would have Your way in this husband’s life—in his mind, body, soul, spirit, and emotions. Let every part of him be surrendered to You. We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that he will be set free from every chain that has bound him. We trust in Your power to save, to heal, and to restore. May Your will be done in his life, and may he come to know You as his Lord and Savior.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
