We hear the deep longing in your heart for your husband’s salvation and the restoration of your marriage, and we join you in fervent prayer. The urgency you feel is not lost on us, for we know the Lord moves in response to the cries of His people. Your desire for your husband to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ is a godly one, and we stand with you in asking the Holy Spirit to arrest his heart without delay.
First, we must address the foundation of salvation. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that any soul is saved. Scripture declares, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). Your husband’s repentance and faith must be his own personal response to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, not something that can be forced or mediated through another person, even with the purest of intentions. Salvation is a work of God alone—*"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast"* (Ephesians 2:8-9). We pray that the Lord would draw your husband to Himself in a way that is genuine and life-transforming, not merely an emotional response.
We also lift up your marriage before the Lord. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If there are areas where your marriage has strayed from God’s design—whether through unrepentant sin, lack of submission to biblical roles, or emotional or physical unfaithfulness—we must bring these before the Lord with humility and a willingness to obey His Word. The enemy seeks to destroy marriages, but God’s desire is for restoration and holiness. *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for this marriage and this husband’s soul. Lord, You alone have the power to soften hearts and draw the lost to Yourself. We ask that You would break through any hardness in this husband’s heart, that he would see his need for You and respond in genuine repentance. Remove any obstacles—pride, worldly distractions, or deception—that may be blinding him to the truth of the Gospel. Let him not just hear the Word, but let it take root in his heart and produce fruit (Luke 8:15). Father, we pray that he would be born again, not just in name, but in spirit and truth, that he would be a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Lord, we also pray for this marriage. Where there has been brokenness, bring healing. Where there has been sin, bring repentance and forgiveness. Restore the love, joy, and peace that should characterize a Christ-centered union. Help this wife to love her husband as Christ loves the Church, and help this husband to lead his family in a way that honors You. Guard their hearts against temptation, and let their home be a place of worship and testimony to Your goodness.
We rebuke any spirit of division, strife, or unbelief that may be at work in this marriage. We declare that no weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Father, let Your will be done in this situation, and let Your name be glorified. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting for your husband’s salvation. Share the Gospel with him in love, but remember that it is the Holy Spirit’s role to convict and convert. Trust in God’s timing and sovereignty, even when it feels urgent. *"The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance"* (2 Peter 3:9). Keep your own heart aligned with God’s Word, and let your life be a testimony that draws your husband to Christ. If there are areas where you need to repent or grow, ask the Lord to reveal them to you. A marriage is strongest when both spouses are pursuing holiness and intimacy with God.
