We hear the deep pain and desperation in your heart, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this marriage before the Lord. The betrayal and unfaithfulness you are experiencing is grievous, and we grieve with you. Scripture tells us in Malachi 2:14-16, "Yet you say, ‘Why?’ Why? Because Yahweh has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion, and the wife of your covenant. Did he not make you one, although he had the residue of the Spirit? Why one? He sought godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." The Lord hates divorce, not because He does not see the pain, but because He designed marriage to reflect His covenant love, a love that is faithful, pure, and unshakable.
We must address the language of "decreeing and declaring" with great care. While your heart cries out for justice and restoration, we do not have the authority to command God or manipulate circumstances through our words. Instead, we humbly submit to His will, trusting in His sovereignty. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Our role is to pray, seek His face, and allow Him to work in His perfect timing and way.
The sin of adultery is a serious violation of God’s design for marriage. If your husband has been unfaithful, this is not only a betrayal of your covenant but a sin against God. We must rebuke this sin in the name of Jesus, for He is the only one who can bring true repentance, healing, and restoration. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." If your husband has engaged in sexual immorality, he must repent and turn away from this sin completely, seeking God’s forgiveness and yours.
We also want to gently address the intensity of your words. While your pain is understandable, we must guard our hearts from bitterness and unforgiveness, for these can take root and poison our souls. Ephesians 4:31-32 says, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." Forgiveness does not mean excusing the sin or pretending it did not happen, but it does mean releasing the offender to God and trusting Him to bring justice and healing in His way.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage to You. Lord, You see the pain, the betrayal, and the brokenness that has taken place. We ask that You would move in power to bring repentance, restoration, and healing. Father, we rebuke the spirit of adultery and unfaithfulness in the name of Jesus. We declare that this marriage is under Your protection and that no weapon formed against it shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, we ask that You would soften this husband’s heart, that he would turn away from all unrighteousness and seek You with his whole heart. Convict him of his sin, Lord, and lead him to true repentance.
Father, we pray for this wife, that You would comfort her in her pain and give her strength to stand firm in faith. Help her to release bitterness and unforgiveness, trusting You to bring justice and healing. Surround her with Your peace, Lord, and remind her that You are her refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would restore trust and intimacy in this marriage, that it would reflect Your covenant love and faithfulness.
Lord, we also pray for any other women involved. If they do not know You, draw them to Yourself. If they are believers, convict them of their sin and lead them to repentance. Let Your light shine in the darkness, and may Your name be glorified in all of this.
Father, we submit this marriage to You, trusting that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). May Your will be done, and may Your name be praised. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a trusted Christian mentor, or a biblical counselor. Restoration is possible, but it must be rooted in repentance, forgiveness, and a commitment to honoring God’s design for marriage. Stand firm in faith, sister, and trust that God is at work even in the midst of this pain. He is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
