Disciple of Prayer
Dear God, Jesus and everyone who is on this site. An update as to my little kitten's illness. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you in advance of my prayer request.
The little kitten responded to some supportive veterinary treatment and was a little bit brighter by the time the vet phoned me around lunch time. We had stayed all night at the vet hospital by sleeping in the car from 2 am onwards. We checked in with the hospital and they said still critical and needs before we left to travel home as we also have a diabetic cat to care for at home plus the little kitten's mother cat and the kitten's siblings were at home along with our other pet cats. When the vet phoned me, the vet said they managed to get a blood sample. Found white cell count extremely low. Found kidney enzymes high which they thought related to her severe dehydration. Other abnormalities in the blood results were electrolytes. The vet screened for Feline Parvo Virus and Enteritis and results were negative. The vet asked for an ultrasound of the abdomen to see what information it might give them such as looking for infection as she had just been desexed Monday this week and they were also looking at her urinary system to see what's going on there. Said he will phone me after the ultrasound is done. When he phoned, the vet specialist said the ultrasound showed fluid in her abdomen which they tested and found it was full of the white blood cells which explained where they went and the abdomen as ok so had bacteria indicating infection throughout the abdomen. The vet said he could not rule out contamination from the desexing surgery.
The vet specialist team wanted to perform an exploratory laparotomy from the kitten's breast bone to her pelvis, a 7 to 10 cm incision to remove all infection. She is still at a critical stage and they were going to wait for another hour or so to get her into a more stable condition before needing to perform the surgery. Huge risk and worry yet no other way around getting the infection out of her abdomen. Her BP had come up somewhat to about 100 systolic hence why they were able to get a blood sample. The vet warned me she may not make it through this surgery being already critical but said there was no other alternative to eliminate the free fluid and bacteria developing in her abdomen to dilute the bugs. It certainly explains why she was vomiting so much and many a time in the 2 hr transit to the hospital last night I thought she was on her last breath. So horrific.
Dear God, Jesus and everyone on this site, please I pray that my kitten survives this massive surgery on top of everything she is going through and recovers from this surgery and infection. The vet said if she does make it she will have a drain in her abdomen to continue draining.
My prayer request is for my kitten to survive the surgery and infection and make a full recovery so she can come back home to us. We love her so much.
Please pray for her to survive and get through the vet surgery and the treatment to regain her health.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
With much Love and Light to you all.
