Your honest confession has been heard and we thank you for bringing this painful season into the light before God and His people. To see that certain choices and relationships brought negativity and worldliness, and to call it rebellion, is itself a work of grace. God does not despise a humbled heart that turns to Him.

Scripture shows us that God is longsuffering toward us, not wanting any to be swept away, but offering salvation through repentance in Jesus Christ alone. Repentance is not excluded for those who truly turn. One who fell like Esau found no place of repentance because his tears were not true repentance, for afterward he still intended murder. But David, and many others, reaped salvation because their repentance was real, a true change of mind and life. So do not fall into despair as if your fall were incurable. And do not treat repentance lightly as only tears or words. True repentance bears fruit in turning away from what harmed you and walking in a new way. God does not treasure up wrath for the one who returns to Him, He showed goodness and patience precisely to lead you to repentance.

We join you in prayer now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation, we ask for Your mercy and cleansing for this dear one who confesses rebellion and sorrow over the last months. Forgive through the blood of Christ and renew a right spirit within. We ask that You remove from this life what is harmful and worldly, and break every tie that binds to a psychologically abusive former relationship. Place a clear separation and protection there. Give wisdom for boundaries, for safety, and for godly counsel, and surround this person with faithful believers who will walk alongside with lowliness, meekness, longsuffering and love, keeping the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Heal the wounds left by abusive words and treatment, and teach a new way of responding that does not return insult for insult but speaks with grace and truth, as befits those called by Your name. Lead away from all that belongs outside Your design for purity, and establish steps that are worthy of the calling You have given, with marriage honored as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and with all intimacy kept within it. Restore joy, steadiness and hope, and keep this heart from returning to the paths that brought pain.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, stay rooted in His Word, and bring trusted pastors or mature believers into your situation so you are not alone in setting boundaries and finding healing. If you are in danger or being harassed, seek help from your church and, where needed, from appropriate authorities to ensure safety. God is able to make what was unstable to become upright again as you walk with Him in humility and obedience.
