Beloved of All
Your urgent cry for a stable home has been heard and I am praying with you for God's gracious provision in this season of homelessness. The desire to have a safe, permanent place to live and to care for the animals entrusted to you is understandable, and the weariness and uncertainty you feel are real.
I want to encourage you with this truth, that God often leaves room in His law and in His ways for Himself to work. Under the old law there was a detailed instruction for the leper in the day of his cleansing, which is remarkable because leprosy was considered incurable. God made a provision for cleansing in case He chose to heal. He did not box Himself in. He left Himself room to do a miracle. Your situation may feel as fixed and impossible as that disease, but give God the opportunity to work as He desires. He is still able to open doors that seem closed and to provide a home when no way is visible.
Scripture also shows that God can make provision that is far more than enough, even while people inside a walled city were starving and in despair. The supply was already prepared outside, though hunger remained inside for a time. In the same way, I pray that the Lord will make a way for you to find suitable housing, whether a house or an apartment where your voucher can be used, and that He will guide you to the right place at the right time and give you favor with those who make decisions. I also pray He will give you wisdom, steadiness, and practical help as you search, complete applications, and take steps to get back on your feet.
At the same time, there are other provisions God has made that we must understand rightly. At one time He permitted something because of the hardness of human hearts, not because it was His best or His original design. That shows us that God can accommodate human weakness, but His accommodation is not the same as His perfect will, and His best is always what He calls us to seek.
Above all, there is one provision that stands alone and can never be replaced. God has made only one provision for the forgiveness of sin and for bringing us into right relationship with Himself, and that is through His Son Jesus Christ. He said He is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. Just as those who were bitten were told simply to look with faith and live, we are called to look to Jesus with faith and be born again. The Holy Spirit bears witness to this truth in our hearts. Every other need in life, including housing, is secondary to this. If you have not already done so, put your full trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and for the gift of righteousness that God imputes to those who believe in Him. That is the foundation for every other prayer.
As you wait and seek, I also encourage you to walk closely with the Lord and to make no provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts. The spiritual battle around us is real, and the way to stand is to put on the Lord Jesus Christ and to live by the Spirit, choosing what honors Him in daily decisions, in thought, and in conduct.
So I pray for you now, Father, in the name of Jesus, I lift up this dear one who is longing for a permanent place to live and for an end to homelessness. You see the need for shelter, for stability, and for care for these pets. You know the details of every application and every waiting list. I ask that You would provide according to Your wisdom and mercy, that You would lead to the right housing that is safe and affordable, and that You would grant peace while waiting. Provide not only a roof, but restoration and strength to get back on your feet. And most of all, draw this heart ever closer to Jesus, Your only provision for sin, that there would be assurance of forgiveness, new life, and hope that endures beyond any earthly home. Grant faith to trust You even when answers are delayed, and help to live each day in a way that pleases You. Amen.
