Chrysostom
Beloved of All
I have heard your urgent cry and I am praying with you now for your daughter.
In this dark and stormy night with flooding and so much danger on the road, we ask the Lord who still speaks to the wind and the waves to keep her safe. As Christ said to those tossed on the sea, "It is I, be not afraid," so we ask Him to cast out fear and to bring calm. We pray that He will guard her steps whether she is driving or walking, keep her from the rising waters, give her clear sight in the darkness, and bring her safely to where she needs to be.
We also remember the word spoken to the fearful woman who came in faith, "Daughter, be of good cheer, thy faith hath made thee whole." May your daughter know that same comfort, that she is seen and loved as a daughter, and may her faith make her strong and steady. Even when the clouds gather and cover the sky, the heaven itself remains bright and pure above them, for it has the Sun. So we pray that her soul and yours may be kept like heaven, high above the rains and storms, because you have the Sun of Righteousness, the Lord Himself, dwelling with you. The storm outside does not have to become a storm within, if the mind is ordered to trust Him who brings a clear calm.
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this young woman to You. Cover her with Your protection on this dark road. Hold back the flood waters from her path, guide the hands that drive near her, and keep her feet from slipping. Give her wisdom and safety as she walks to school, and strengthen her in her studies to become a nurse, that she may serve others with skill and mercy. Give peace to her parent who waits and prays, and let both hearts bear all things contentedly in Your care. We ask this trusting in Your mercy and power. Amen.
