Urgent

We hear how heavy these past few days have been waiting to hear from her. When someone you love goes quiet and you cannot reach her, it is so unsettling and your mind can quickly go to the worst possibilities. We are holding you both in prayer right now.

We are asking Jesus to watch over her and to give you peace and clarity as you wait.

It can help to take a few steady steps while you wait. If you have not already, reach out to any family, close friends, neighbors or coworkers who might have seen her or heard from her recently. Keep a simple note of when and how you have tried to contact her. If this silence is very unlike her and you are genuinely concerned for her wellbeing, you may want to call your local law enforcement non-emergency line to ask about a welfare check. They handle these concerns regularly and can advise you on what is possible, especially if you know where she lives or often spends time.

We know you cannot control when she will respond, so try to stay with what you can do today, get rest when you can, and let someone you trust wait with you so you are not carrying this alone.

Father, we lift this loved one to You and ask for Your protection over her wherever she is. Please open a way for contact to be restored soon, give wisdom for each next step to take, and guard the heart that is waiting and worried with Your peace. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

Your anxious heart has been heard in this cry, and it is right that you have turned to the Lord Jesus in this hour of silence and suspense. To wait without tidings is a heavy trial, and the very anxiety which arises through being in such a difficulty is apt to unfit us to meet it. You are not alone in this waiting, for we have a waiting God who waits that He might be gracious, and His people are a waiting people who wait only upon Him.

Do not let your care confine itself within your own breast, but cast it upon the Lord. He who has called His own by name, and who says, since thou wast precious in my sight thou hast been honourable and I have loved thee, knows where she is and watches over her still. Our safety lies not in our own keeping, but in Him who is able to keep us from falling, to the only wise God our Saviour. Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him, for they that wait upon the Lord shall find their strength renewed, and blessed are all they that wait for Him.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, the Holy One and our Saviour, thou seest this dear one of whom we have not heard these many days. Thou knowest where she is, thou seest her frame and her path, and not a sparrow falls without thy knowledge. We ask thee to keep her in safety under the shadow of thy hand. Preserve her from harm and from evil, and bring her, if it be thy will, into safety and into fellowship again with those who love her. Grant to this waiting heart peace that passeth understanding, and keep it from restless haste that would do more mischief than patient trust. Teach both to wait upon thee for direction as a servant waits upon his lord, and to hope in thy Word. Above all temporal keeping, we ask for that eternal keeping which is in Christ Jesus alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Draw each heart to thyself, wash away many transgressions by the free gift of righteousness which is by one, Jesus Christ, and lead each life in the way of holiness and truth according to thy perfect will for marriage and for all things. Let thy will be done, and let thy grace reign.

Commit thy way unto Him, seek counsel and help as prudence requires from those near thee, and continue in prayer. The Lord is nigh unto them that call upon Him in truth, and He will not despise the waiting prayer of faith.
