Disciple of Prayer
Respected prayer warrior, Greetings to you. Kindly pray for my son who is arrested because he was drunk and driving and that he may be free tomorrow morning. And that he is not tortured nor troubled there by the police. Regards. ###

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your son in this difficult time. The scriptures remind us in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us. We pray for your son’s protection and well-being while he is in custody. Father, we ask that You surround him with Your angels, shielding him from any harm, mistreatment, or fear. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we also ask for mercy and favor in the legal proceedings. May the authorities handle his case with justice and fairness, and may any consequences he faces serve as a turning point in his life. We rebuke the spirit of recklessness and rebellion that led to this situation, and we pray for conviction, not condemnation, to fall upon him. Let this be a moment of repentance and transformation, where he turns away from the sin of drunkenness and surrenders his life fully to You. The Bible warns us in Proverbs 20:1 that wine is a mocker and strong drink a brawler, and whoever is led astray by it is not wise. We pray that your son would recognize the danger of his actions and seek wisdom and sobriety moving forward.

Father, we also lift up the family during this time. Strengthen and comfort you as you navigate this trial. Give you wisdom in how to support your son without enabling his sin, and help you to speak truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). We pray that this situation would draw your family closer to You and to one another, rather than causing division or despair.

Most importantly, we ask that your son would come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior if he does not already. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict him of his need for a Savior and that he would repent and turn to You. For those who are in Christ, we know that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). Even in this difficult circumstance, we trust that You are at work.

We declare freedom for your son, not just from physical custody, but from the bondage of sin and addiction. We break every chain of alcoholism and rebellion in Jesus’ name, and we pray for a fresh start and a renewed mind. May he walk in the newness of life that Christ offers (Romans 6:4).

Lord, we ask that You would move mightily in this situation. Let Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified through it all. We trust in Your goodness, Your justice, and Your mercy. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We are holding your son and your family before the Lord right now. Waiting through a night like this can feel unbearable, the fear, the helplessness, and the weight of not knowing exactly what he is facing. Please know you are not alone in this. We join you in asking God to shield him from mistreatment and to give him safety until the morning light. Even in a place that feels dark and uncertain, we trust that God’s care reaches him.

While we pray for his release, it may also help to quietly take a practical step. If you have not already, consider contacting a local attorney or legal aid service so that someone can advocate for his rights first thing in the morning. In the meantime, let a trusted friend from your church or a family member sit with you, sometimes simply not bearing the weight by yourself makes the hours pass differently. This is not the end of his story, and a crisis like this can become a hard but real turning point, something God can use to draw him to wisdom and a safer path. We don’t minimize the seriousness of drunk driving, but neither do we forget that God’s mercy meets us in our lowest moments.

Lord Jesus, we ask for your mercy. Watch over this son tonight, guard his body, calm his fears, and soften the hearts of those who hold him. Give his mother courage and a steady spirit as she waits. We pray for a just but favorable outcome, and that even this ordeal will become a moment of awakening and lasting change. Surround this family with your peace and practical help. In your name alone we pray, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The heavy hand of the law has fallen upon your son, and your heart is troubled. Yet consider this, before faith came, we were kept under the Law, arrested and held fast by God’s holy commandments. This outward trouble, frightening as it seems, may be the very garrison in which the Lord would shut him up to faith in Christ. The Ten Commandments, like armed men, take us into custody to stop our mad career down the road of destruction. Do not only pray for his release from the magistrate’s cell; pray first that this shaking may awaken his soul to his danger before a far greater judgment. The flesh profits nothing; it is the Spirit that quickens. May this dark hour be the means by which he is kept for eternal life.

What your son needs, and what you must plead for, is that he would eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood. Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Son of Mary, gave His life a ransom for sinners. The ever-blessed Son of God went up to Calvary and there paid the debt of all who trust Him. The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses from all sin. When a poor guilty one believes, God the Father looks upon that atoning sacrifice and forgets the sins for which His Son died. Such surprising grace! Plead the precious blood over your son’s soul, that he may find in Christ meat indeed and drink indeed, a life that cannot feed on anything else.

As for his bodily safety, the promise stands sure: He gives His angels charge over those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High. Yet this protection is for those who walk in the King’s highway of childlike trust and obedience. If your son will draw near to God, like the prodigal returning to his father, he shall find the Father running to meet him with compassion. There is a way of safety guaranteed, but it is the way of faith in Jesus Christ alone. You shall be received graciously and loved freely if you come back through Christ His dear Son. Pray therefore that your son may kiss the Son, lest he be angry and perish from the way. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him. With this mercy for his soul secured, you may then trust his body to the Lord’s keeping, for He who bore our load in His own body on the tree will not forsake His own in the hour of trouble.

The anguish of a mother’s heart is known to God, yet I must speak plainly. Your son’s arrest is not a mere misfortune; it is the bitter fruit of intemperance. Wine was given for cheerfulness and for bodily health, not for drunkenness. When a man drinks without restraint, he becomes a slave to passion, and from that slavery flow reckless deeds, danger, and disgrace. To get drunk is no small sin, but a defilement of the body, a darkening of reason, and an invitation to every evil. You ask for his release and for protection from torture, and this is right to pray, for we are to seek mercy in every affliction.

Yet consider what deliverance truly is. An earthly judge may set him free tomorrow and spare him from harsh treatment, but no human authority can purge the sin from his soul. If he walks out of that cell still drunk in spirit, unchanged, then the greater torment remains. The very danger he now faces is a summons from God, a loud call to awaken from the stupor of vice. Had he not been arrested, he might have continued in a path leading to a far worse destruction, both of body and soul in the end. Therefore, pray not only that the prison doors open, but that the eyes of his heart be opened. Let your tears be for his repentance even more than for his release.

Do not fall into the error of seeking only an end to the trouble. Many a mother has obtained a son’s freedom from punishment only to see him return swiftly to the same ruinous life, because the root was not cut out. Urge him, when he comes forth, to look upon this shame as a stern teacher. Let him learn that surfeiting destroys a man more grievously than hunger, and that intemperance sharpens the temper into harshness and savagery. The blow he has suffered is meant to lead him to sobriety of mind and life. And you yourself, in your love, must not spare him the truth. Better that he endure temporary distress now and be saved, than that he escape lightly and perish eternally. Cry to God with all your heart, but let the substance of your prayer be this: that your son may be converted, that he may hate the drunkenness that brought him low, and that Christ, who drank the bitterness of the cross for our sakes, may give him the true freedom of a purified conscience.
