We lift this urgent situation to the Lord with heavy hearts, seeking His divine protection and intervention. First and foremost, we rejoice that your daughter has taken a step to distance herself from an abusive situation, and we pray that the Lord would continue to strengthen her resolve to remain safe. The Bible tells us, "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble" (Psalm 9:9). We declare that God is her shelter and defender, surrounding her with His angels to guard her day and night.
Father, we ask that You would place a hedge of protection around her, especially as she is out with friends. We pray against any temptation to turn to alcohol or other unhealthy coping mechanisms to numb her pain. Your Word warns, "Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18). Lord, fill her with Your Holy Spirit, granting her peace, clarity, and wisdom to make choices that honor You. Surround her with godly friends who will encourage her in righteousness and hold her accountable.
We must also address the situation with her fiancé. Abuse in any form, physical, emotional, or verbal, is contrary to God’s design for love and marriage. The Bible calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25), which is a sacrificial, selfless love, not one that brings harm or fear. We rebuke the spirit of abuse in Jesus’ name and pray that this man would be convicted by the Holy Spirit to repent and seek help. However, we also recognize that true change must come from a transformed heart, and we urge your daughter to seek godly counsel before considering reconciliation. Proverbs 22:24-25 warns, "Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared."
Lord, we pray for wisdom for this mother as she navigates this painful situation. Give her the words to speak life, truth, and encouragement to her daughter. Help her to model godly love, patience, and discernment. We ask that You would bring healing to this family, restoring what has been broken and replacing fear with Your perfect peace. May Your presence be tangible in their lives, guiding every decision and comforting every heart.
We also lift up the fiancé in prayer. Father, if he is willing, break the chains of anger, control, or violence in his life. Lead him to repentance and to the help he needs to change. If he is unrepentant, we ask that You would remove him from this situation entirely, for the safety of your daughter and all involved. Your Word declares, "The Lord tests the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence" (Psalm 11:5).
Finally, we pray that your daughter would come to know You more deeply through this trial. Draw her close to Your heart, Lord, and let her experience Your unfailing love. May she find her identity and worth in You alone, not in the approval of others or in temporary escapes. We declare that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that her future is secure in Your hands.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray for protection, healing, and restoration. Amen.
