Disciple of Prayer
Hi good day I'm in desperate need of agreement in prayer to save my marriage and also praying for my husband ### salvation. Our marriage has been under ongoing spiritual attacks for the last ###yrs, he will spontaneously start cursing me off when our anniversary month comes, we go married in October ###, he will say he needs help and comes he refuses, he cheats and lies for no reason, smokes Marijuana everyday inorder for him to be calm, he curses like he has no soul. He drink a bottle of Hennessy every week. He informed me on August ### he is moving out on the ### of October. Also since he made friends with a group of ### women and a guy, that's who considers is important to him, he lies just to go out and meet them. There this one woman ### she is fighting after our marriage, no matter how I pray she not giving up. Please agree with me to pray that God intervenes speedily in this situation.

We hear the urgency and pain in your cry and we stand with you in agreement for your marriage, for we know that marriage is a holy covenant before God between a man and a woman for life. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Matthew 19:6. We believe God hates divorce, Malachi 2:16, and His desire is for this covenant to be restored, purified and made to honor Him.

We must lovingly speak truth about what you have described, because God calls us to rebuke sin so that healing can come. Your husband's cheating and pursuing another woman is adultery, and God says marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. His lying violates the command to not lie to one another, Colossians 3:9, his cursing and speaking without a soul reveals what is in the heart, for out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks, Matthew 12:34, and we are told let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up, Ephesians 4:29. His daily use of marijuana to be calm and drinking a bottle of Hennessy every week is not the peace God gives, for we are commanded do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, Ephesians 5:18, and wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, whoever is led astray by it is not wise, Proverbs 20:1. Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, and we are called to be sober and self-controlled, for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5:8. The friendship with ungodly companions who encourage this lifestyle is also dangerous, for do not be deceived, evil companionships corrupt good morals, 1 Corinthians 15:33. These are not merely habits or spiritual attacks from outside only, they are works of the flesh, Galatians 5:19-21, and they require repentance. The other woman who is pursuing a married man is also living in sin and needs to repent.

We also recognize the real spiritual battle you discern. Our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. Yet we have hope, for if we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us, James 4:7, and the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, 2 Corinthians 10:4.

We noticed your request asked for God to intervene but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We gently remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in our heart that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved, Romans 10:9. So we come to the Father only through Jesus, and we pray for your husband's salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, that he would be born again, delivered from darkness and made a new creation.

We join our faith with yours now and we pray together.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace for this sister and for her marriage. Lord, You see the affliction, the cursing, the lies, the adultery, the drunkenness and drug use, the ungodly influences and the plan to move out in October. We ask You to intervene speedily according to Your perfect will. Have mercy on her husband, convict him deeply of sin and bring him to repentance and to salvation in Jesus. Deliver him from the spirit of adultery and lust, from lying and perverse speech, from addiction to marijuana and alcohol, and from the hold of evil companions. Remove the ungodly relationships from his life and let every scheme of the enemy to destroy this marriage be broken. Put a hedge of protection around this covenant and let no weapon formed against it prosper. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7, instead of the false calm of drugs and drink. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him, Psalm 51:10. For this wife, Lord, give her strength, comfort and wisdom. Heal her broken heart, for You are near to those who have a broken heart, and save those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. Help her to walk in love and truth, to not return evil for evil but to overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21, and to win her husband without a word by her pure and reverent conduct as You describe, 1 Peter 3:1-2. Teach her to set healthy and biblical boundaries, to seek wise and godly counsel from her pastor and mature believers, and to continue steadfast in prayer, for the insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective, James 5:16. Where it is Your will, stop this move out and restore this home, and let this marriage be a testimony of Your redeeming power. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to remain faithful in prayer and fasting, to stay rooted in the Word daily, to not enable sin by covering lies or making excuses for adultery and addiction, but to speak the truth in love, Ephesians 4:15, and to call your husband to repentance while showing grace. Seek your pastor or elders quickly for intervention and accountability, for where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there, Matthew 18:20, and again if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by our Father who is in heaven, Matthew 18:19. Guard your own heart, keep yourself pure, and trust that God sees your tears and hears your prayers. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, Ephesians 3:20, and He can bring conviction, deliverance and restoration where man sees no hope. Continue to pray for that other woman that she would repent and turn away, and pray that every ungodly tie would be severed. We will continue to contend with you for a marriage that honors God, for your husband's full surrender to Jesus, and for God's will to be done in this home.

Thank you for trusting us with this. We can hear how painful and exhausting these years have been, especially with October approaching again and the weight of his announcement that he will leave.

Loving someone who says he wants help and then refuses it, while also dealing with betrayal, harsh words and daily substance use, is a lot to carry. It makes sense that the anniversary month feels so heavy, and that you are longing for God to step in quickly.

We are praying with you for God's intervention and for your husband to truly turn to Him. As you wait, please don't walk through this alone. It would be good to sit down soon with one trusted pastor or counselor in person, someone who can know your story over time and help you think through wise next steps and boundaries before October. If harsh language ever makes you feel unsafe, please have a safe person and place you can turn to quickly. And because ongoing marijuana and alcohol use can be so entangling, we encourage you to invite a pastor or counselor to help you connect with wise, professional support as well, alongside prayer.

Father, we lift this marriage and this husband to You in Jesus' name. We ask You to draw him to Yourself, to bring conviction and a desire for wholeness, and to give our sister wisdom, strength and peace for each day ahead. Guard her heart and home, surround her with faithful support, and lead her step by step as she seeks You. Amen.

Your earnest and sorrowful request has been laid before the Lord with deep sympathy and continued prayer. We have heard the weight of these many years, the bitter words that return with the anniversary season, the deceit and unfaithfulness, the daily bondage to marijuana and the weekly giving way to strong drink, the cursing and hardness of heart, and now the declared purpose to leave the covenant made before God in October. We have heard also of those companions who have become more dear to him than his own vows, and of the one who pursues your marriage. The Lord sees all this and knows the anguish it has brought upon you.

We hold fast to what Scripture teaches, that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, ordained of God, and that all intimacy and dwelling together belongs within that covenant alone. What is outside that covenant God calls sin, and we cannot ask Him to bless what He calls sin. Rather we must ask Him to convict, to deliver, and to restore according to His holy will. And we hold fast that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by Divine grace through faith in Him. There is no other name, no other way.

For your husband, our chief prayer is for his salvation, for without it there is no true healing. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. The way of salvation is to believe on Christ, to trust in Him, to look unto Him and be saved, all the ends of the earth. It is without money and without price, not by good works or strong resolve, but by looking unto Jesus with the heart. We pray that he may be brought to see himself as a sinner in need of a Savior, that he may look unto Christ and live, that the power of sin may be broken in him. When salvation comes it delivers a man from the power of sin, from bad habits, unclean desires and carnal passions, and we pray for that true emancipation for him, that he may be loosed from drunkenness and from the weed that quiets the conscience for a moment and leaves the soul more enslaved, from lying and cursing and adultery, and may become a new creature in Christ.

We pray also for your marriage, that God in His mercy would intervene speedily. We ask that He would hedge up those ways that lead away from home and righteousness, that He would remove ungodly influences and bring godly sorrow and repentance, that He would turn your husband's heart from those who flatter him in his sin and turn it toward the covenant he made. We pray that if it be His will, He would grant perfect restoration, for He says even to those who have wandered far, Come back, though you have unchastely left the Husband of your soul, yet is He prepared to receive you again. And we pray for you, that you may be kept in faith and peace, that you may not be ashamed for having trusted in the Lord, that He would restore unto you the joy of His salvation and uphold you with His free Spirit.

Continue to look unto Jesus yourself, to leave the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence. Cast your burden upon Him daily. Seek the counsel and covering of faithful pastors and mature believers in your own church, that you may not bear this alone, that you may have wisdom, protection and prayer close at hand. Walk in purity and truth, speak the truth in love, and leave vengeance and persuasion to the Lord who alone can change the heart.

We now pray together. O Lord God, beside whom there is none else, look in mercy upon this wounded marriage. Have mercy upon this husband and save him by Thy grace through faith in Christ Jesus. Cause him to look unto Christ and be saved. Deliver him from blood guiltiness and from the dominion of sin, from strong drink and from every defilement, from lying lips and from strange paths. Convict him of his sin and bring him to repentance. Hedge up the way of adultery and vanity and cause those cords to be broken. If it be Thy will, restore this covenant and make it as though Thou hadst not cast them aside, that joy and gladness may be heard again in that home. Uphold this wife who cries to Thee, keep her by Thy power, give her wisdom and strength for each day, and let her trust be wholly in Christ who Himself is our salvation. Hear us for His sake alone. Amen.
