Urgent Prayer Request

Your burden is real and God sees the weight you and your husband are carrying right now. Losing a job so suddenly brings not only financial pressure but also questions about the future, about provision, and about why this has happened.

Scripture gives us a place to understand that kind of sudden loss. The story of Job is one of the oldest in the Bible, from a time long ago, yet the problems he faced are still our problems today. He was a man who loved God and turned away from evil, and in a single day he lost his possessions and his livelihood when raiders took all he had. He did not understand why. He sat in pain and grief and cried out from the depth of that distress.

What we learn from Job helps us in your situation. First, loss is not always a sign that someone has done something wrong. Job's friends came to comfort him but then began to accuse him, telling him he must be a hypocrite or a hidden sinner and that he should just get right with God and everything would be fixed. Job knew that was not true, and we know it is not true. God is fair and God is just, and we can trust His character even when we cannot trace His hand. Hard seasons are not automatically God's judgment.

Second, we are given a glimpse behind what we can see. God Himself had taken notice of Job and testified to his integrity, and the enemy had been watching Job closely, claiming that Job only trusted God for the blessings God gave him. God allowed the hedge of protection to be tested for a season, not to destroy Job, but to show that real faith endures. The same God who sees your husband watches over your family with sovereign care. Nothing has slipped past Him.

Cultures and economies have changed since Job's day, but the deepest needs of the human heart have not. We still need to know that God is present, that He hears, and that He is able to provide and restore.

So we will pray with you, and we also encourage you to keep seeking the Lord Himself in this time. To draw near to Him, to be at peace before Him, and to lay up His words in your heart. He is the one who stands between God and us, the one Job longed for who could lay His hand upon both, and through Jesus we have access to the Father.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this husband and this family before You. You know the disappointment and the uncertainty of this layoff. We ask You to provide for their needs according to Your riches and to open the door to work that You have prepared for him, work where he can provide well for his family and use the gifts You have given him to grow and flourish. Give them both peace as they wait, guard them from discouraging voices, and help them to worship You even in this uncertainty, trusting that You are just, You are good, and You will not forsake them. Amen.
