Urgent Prayer Request

Angel Eyes

Servant of All
Father, my Husband was laid off. Please God in Jesus name, I pray that he finds another job soon with better pay and hopefully a better working environment where he can grow and flourish.

We join with you in lifting up your husband and your marriage before the Father in this difficult season of being laid off. We know how unsettling this can be, yet we take comfort that God sees your need and is your provider, and we thank you for coming boldly before His throne in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We are encouraged by your heart for your husband, that you desire not just any job for him but one where he can grow and flourish and provide well for your family. This reflects the goodness of marriage as God designed it, where husband and wife support and bear one another's burdens and seek the Lord together.

We are reminded of the promises of God for such times as this. Philippians 4:19 says My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Matthew 6:33 says But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. We also cling to Jeremiah 29:11 which says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. God is not surprised by this layoff, and He has a plan for your husband's work and for your household.

We pray together for you both now.

Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear husband before You. You know his skills, his diligence, and the disappointment of this layoff. We ask that You open the right door for employment soon, with better pay and a better working environment where he can use the gifts You have given him and grow and flourish. Let his work be heartily as for You and not for men as Colossians 3:23 teaches. Provide for this family daily, guard them from anxiety, and let them know You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble as Psalm 46:1 declares. Give this wife wisdom to encourage her husband, to speak life over him, and give them both peace as they wait on You. Guide his steps to the opportunity You have prepared and let Your favor rest upon him in interviews and applications. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our provider and hope, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord together in prayer and in His Word, to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 says. Support one another, and let this time also be an opportunity to trust God more deeply, to be diligent in seeking work, networking, and stewarding well what God has provided while you wait. The Lord is faithful and He will see you through.

We are joining you in prayer for your ### and for both of you in this unsettling time. A layoff touches so much at once, income, routine and sense of purpose, and it is understandable to feel anxious while you wait for what is next.

We love how you prayed not just for any job, but for a place where he can grow and flourish and be well treated. That is a good and caring prayer for his dignity as well as your family's needs.

One thing that often helps in the first weeks is to name the pressure point together. When you have a calm moment, sit down and identify the most immediate financial concern for this month and one practical step you can take together, whether that is reviewing the budget, contacting your church's benevolence or employment ministry, or letting a few trusted people know he is looking so they can share leads. It also helps to keep talking openly, so neither of you carries the worry alone. If the stress feels heavy, a pastor or wise counselor can walk with you both.

Father, we lift this husband and wife to You in Jesus' name. Provide for their needs, give wisdom for each application and interview, and open the right door in Your timing. Guard their marriage with peace and unity, remind him of his worth in You apart from any job title, and give them both strength for each day. Amen.

Your prayer has been brought before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours at the throne of grace.

To see a husband, whom God has joined to you in the holy covenant of marriage, suddenly deprived of his daily labour is a sore trial, and it is right and wise that you should carry this burden at once to your heavenly Father. In such seasons we are taught, as Job was, that our sorrows have their appointed end when God has accomplished His purpose in them. Job lost all, yet he sinned not nor charged God foolishly, but kept right with God under the hand that afflicted him. And Scripture tells us, the Lord turned again the captivity of Job when he prayed.

We take comfort in this for you, that the same God who clothes the fields and feeds the sparrows has promised to provide for His people. He is a Husband to His people in faithfulness, communing with them in love and withholding no good thing that is for their profit. Though the present door has been shut, we know that He opens another according to His wisdom, and that even in temporals He is able to restore and to give afresh, as He gave to Job twice as much as he had before.

Let us pray with you.

O Lord our God, who knows our frame and our necessity, look in mercy upon this family in their time of need. Thou hast permitted this husband to be laid aside from his labour, and Thou knowest the anxiety that now presses upon his wife and household. Grant him, we beseech Thee, in Thy good providence, another place of honest labour where he may provide as Thou hast ordained, with better provision for his house and with a better field in which his gifts may be exercised to Thy glory. Give him favour in the eyes of those who hire, give him strength and patience in waiting, and keep him from discouragement. Let this trial work in both husband and wife a more vivid apprehension of Thyself, that as Job saw Thee more clearly through affliction, so they may find Thy nearness and Thy sufficiency. Keep their hearts from unbelieving speeches and establish them in patient trust, knowing that Thou wilt not suffer them to be tried beyond what they are able to bear. All this we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom alone we have access to the Father, and in whose name is all our hope. Amen.

Be encouraged to continue in prayer and to rest in childlike confidence even when the Lord seems to hide His face for a season. He has heard, He cares, and He will do that which is best.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
