We join you in lifting up your loved one before the Father in Jesus' name and we thank you for bringing this need to the Lord so faithfully. We know how unsettling and heavy a layoff can feel, bringing worry about provision and the future, but we serve a God who sees and who provides.
We are reminded that our work is part of God's good purpose for us and that He is our ultimate provider. Philippians 4:19 tells us, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And Matthew 6:33 reminds us, But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Even in this difficult transition, we trust that God is working for good, for we know that Romans 8:28 says, We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.
We also take comfort in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. And Proverbs 16:3 encourages us, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.
Together we pray.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one who has lost his job. Lord, You know his needs, his skills, his family and his heart. We ask that You would open the right door soon, a job with better pay and a healthier working environment where he can use the gifts You have given him to grow and flourish and to glorify You. Let Your favor be upon the work of his hands as Psalm 90:17 says, Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands. Provide for every practical need in this season and guard his heart and the heart of his loved one from fear and discouragement. Give him wisdom as he searches, favor with those who hire, and peace while he waits on You. Help him to seek You first and to trust that You are his provider and not any employer. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you both to continue to trust the Lord together in this waiting season, to commit each application and interview to Him in prayer, and to use this time to rest in His Word and to seek His direction. God is faithful and He will not abandon you in this trial.
