Urgent Prayer Please
We recently sold our beautiful home to downsize to do the wise thing financially and also to have a house where kids could play in yard. The home we sold had a beautiful private yard but it was all stamped concrete. Kids could play but we couldn't put swings or a playset or anything. When we got an offer on our home inventory was so low there wasn't much available that would work. We ended up going for a house that would not have been our first choice but would work. After home inspection, lots of things and issues came up and the seller was not willing to fix anything by that time our home was already set to close and we were too far along in both the sale of our home and the one we were buying. Within days of closing we started seeing these hard sharp shoots popping up and growing all over the yard at a fast rate. When we saw the house we saw that the neighbor behind us had bamboo but we had no knowledge that it was running bamboo and that the roots were running all through our yard. Then, as we started to use sprinklers, we saw that some were damaged from bamboo. As we started pulling out the shoots and roots, we started realizing it was much worse. We have had several landscapers and spoken to someone from a bamboo nursery. We are told bamboo is very invasive and damaging. We have had our landscaper try to pull shoots and roots and we have spent hours and it is endless and new ones keep sprouting and growing. We are told to fix the problem the whole yard has to be torn out with a bobcat to get all the roots and contaminated dirt. Then the bottom soil has to be treated and new top soil installed. Then a barrier has to be installed all around the yard. Please please pray for us. The seller did not disclose this nuisance and invasion to property. I think the agent was aware as well. This will cost us thousands of dollars to fix or thousands more if we don't fix. Please pray that God will help us and give us wisdom and favor in this horrible situation. Also, the bamboo affects the value of homes. Homes with an invasive plant are hard to sell and value much lower. I spoke to an appraiser and he said that house would have been appraised at much less if the issue had been disclosed. Now we wouldn't be able to sell this house unless we took a big loss on it. I am talking to an attorney who will be writing a demand letter to the seller for nondisclosure. We were advised to send a demand letter to neighbors as well for having planted an invasive damaging plant but we just moved in and don't want problems with neighbors.
