We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is in distress. Father God, we know that You hate divorce, for You have said in Malachi 2:16, *"For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel."* We stand on Your Word, believing that what You have joined together, no man should separate (Matthew 19:6). We pray for this husband, that You would soften his heart and turn it fully toward You and toward his wife. Lord, we ask that You break any hardness, pride, or unforgiveness that may be keeping him from reconciliation.
We declare that Your will is restoration, for You are a God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). We rebuke any spirit of separation, rebellion, or ungodly influence that may be speaking to his heart. Instead, we pray that he would be filled with humility, as Your Word says in James 4:6, *"But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, 'God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'"*
Father, we ask that You would work in both of their hearts—bringing repentance where needed, healing where there is brokenness, and forgiveness where there has been offense. Help this wife to trust in Your timing and to walk in love, even when it is difficult, remembering that love covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). We pray that she would not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, she will reap if she does not faint (Galatians 6:9).
Lord, we also lift up any unconfessed sin that may be hindering this marriage. If there has been bitterness, unforgiveness, or any form of disobedience to Your Word, we ask for conviction and repentance. Your Word tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that both husband and wife would examine their hearts and walk in obedience to You.
We declare that this marriage is covered by the blood of Jesus, and we stand against the enemy’s schemes to destroy it. We take authority over any spirit of division, strife, or unbelief, and we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus. We pray that this husband would be drawn back to his wife, not by manipulation or human effort, but by the power of the Holy Spirit working in his heart.
Father, we ask that You would restore the love, trust, and intimacy that may have been lost. Let this marriage be a testimony of Your grace and redemption. We pray that they would both seek You first, knowing that when they do, all these things—including the restoration of their marriage—will be added unto them (Matthew 6:33).
We trust You, Lord, to move mightily in this situation. We believe that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20). We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we declare that this marriage will be restored for Your glory. In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
