We lift up your son before the Lord with heavy hearts, interceding for his spiritual well-being, his longing for companionship, and the restoration of his relationship with his earthly father. Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. Your Word declares, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). We stand on this truth, knowing that Jesus is our advocate and the only way to You.
Lord, we pray for your son’s heart as he navigates this season of longing for a wife. You created man and woman to be united in marriage, as You said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make him a helper comparable to him" (Genesis 2:18). We ask that You would guide him to a godly woman who loves You above all else, a woman who will walk with him in faith, encourage him in righteousness, and build a marriage that honors You. Father, we rebuke the spirit of loneliness and impatience that may lead him to compromise his standards or seek fulfillment in ways that do not align with Your Word. Your Word warns, "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). We pray that he would wait on You, trusting in Your perfect timing and Your perfect plan for his life.
We also lift up his relationship with his father. Lord, You command us to honor our parents, and we ask that You would soften both their hearts to reconcile. Heal any wounds, break down walls of pride or bitterness, and restore what has been broken. Your Word says, "A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city; and contentions are like the bars of a fortress" (Proverbs 18:19). We ask that You would remove any barriers and bring healing to their relationship, for Your glory.
Father, we also address the concern of his attraction to a specific person. While we do not know the details, we pray that You would give him wisdom and discernment. If this person is not the one You have for him, we ask that You would redirect his heart and close any doors that are not of You. If she is a believer, we pray that You would confirm it in his spirit and guide their steps toward a godly courtship that leads to marriage. But Lord, we also rebuke any spirit of infatuation or distraction that may be clouding his judgment. Your Word says, "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it" (Proverbs 4:23). We pray that he would guard his heart and seek You above all else.
We also want to gently address the concern of ethnicity in marriage. While the Bible does not forbid marriage between people of different ethnic backgrounds, it is clear that the most important factor is spiritual unity. Your Word says, "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14). We pray that your son would prioritize finding a wife who shares his faith in Jesus Christ, for a marriage built on You will stand firm in every season. Lord, we ask that You would bring a woman into his life who loves You, fears You, and desires to serve You together with him.
Heavenly Father, we also pray for your son’s spiritual growth. Draw him closer to You, Lord. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and let him hunger and thirst for righteousness. May he seek You first in all things, trusting that You will add everything else he needs. Your Word says, "But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:33). We pray that he would seek You above all else, including his desire for marriage.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may be gripping your heart as his mother. Your Word says, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that You would fill you with peace, knowing that You are in control of your son’s life. Help you to trust in Your promises and to release your worries into Your hands.
We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
