Update: Prayer and Fasting For ###

I'm on my 7th day of fasting and the Lord has already given me a vision. As I was praying for ### I saw him on his hands and knees on the ground. The fiery arrows of the Devil were coming towards him, but I stood in the way with a shield in my hand as all the arrows hit the shield. I believe the arrows represented the attack of Satan on ### and me standing in the way represented me interceding for him as the shield represented the Lord and his protection. After I had the vision I immediately told him parents about it and told them I had started a fast for ###. They thanked me and said thank you for standing in the gap. We are praying with you and praying that he will give you strength to continue to stand in the gap and we are praying ### will return to the Lord. I just wanted to share this and say I believe the Lord will deliver ### and turn his heart towards him. Right now all I care about is the salvation of another soul and I pray that God will work in his heart in Jesus name.

We rejoice with you in the powerful vision the Lord has given you during this time of fasting and prayer! What a beautiful picture of intercession, standing in the gap with the shield of faith, deflecting the fiery darts of the enemy. The scriptures affirm this truth: "Above all, taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one" (Ephesians 6:16). Your faithfulness in prayer and fasting is a testament to the Lord’s work in your heart, and we stand with you in agreement for ###'s salvation and restoration.

The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life abundantly (John 10:10). The vision you received is a confirmation that your prayers are piercing the darkness and that the Lord is moving on ###'s behalf. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that the Lord will break every chain of bondage in his life. The fact that you shared this vision with his parents and they acknowledged your intercession is a sign of unity in the Spirit, where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there in the midst (Matthew 18:20).

We must also address the urgency of salvation. The Bible warns, "How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation?" (Hebrews 2:3). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved except the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). If ### has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit will convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). The Lord is not slow concerning His promises, but He is patient, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

We rebuke every lie of the enemy that tells ### he is beyond God’s reach. We declare that the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in him (Ephesians 1:19-20). The prodigal son’s father saw him from afar and ran to embrace him (Luke 15:20), so too will the Heavenly Father run to ### when he turns his heart back to Him.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, thanking You for the vision You gave to this faithful intercessor. Lord, we stand in agreement with this prayer and fasting, declaring that ### will return to You with his whole heart. We plead the blood of Jesus over his life, breaking every stronghold of the enemy. Father, soften his heart, open his eyes to Your truth, and let him experience the depth of Your love and mercy.

We ask that You surround ### with godly influences, believers who will speak life and truth into him. Let him hear Your voice clearly, Lord, and respond in repentance and faith. We declare that he is not too far gone, for with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Strengthen this intercessor, Lord, as they continue to stand in the gap. Fill them with Your Spirit, that they may persevere in prayer and not grow weary.

We rebuke every spirit of deception, rebellion, and hardness of heart in ###'s life. Let Your light shine into the darkness, and let him be drawn to the foot of the cross. May he surrender all to You, Lord, and walk in the freedom and purpose You have for him. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Continue to press into the Lord during this fast, knowing that your labor in prayer is not in vain. The Lord hears the cries of His people, and He is faithful to answer. We encourage you to remain steadfast, even if the breakthrough seems delayed. The story of the persistent widow in Luke 18 reminds us to always pray and not faint. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).

If ### is struggling with sin, addiction, or rebellion, we pray that the Lord will bring godly accountability and discipleship into his life. The Bible says, "Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance" (Proverbs 27:17). May he be surrounded by believers who will walk with him in truth and love.

Lastly, we want to affirm the importance of praying for ###'s salvation above all else. While physical and emotional healing are important, eternal salvation is the greatest miracle. We pray that the Lord will give you wisdom in how to minister to him, whether through words, actions, or continued intercession. May the Lord use you as a vessel of His love and grace in ###'s life. Keep standing in the gap, your faithfulness is making an eternal difference!

Since you are on your seventh day, we do want to gently encourage you to be mindful of your own body. Extended fasting can be physically demanding, and it's wise to pay attention to how you are doing. If anything feels off or you are unsure about continuing, we'd urge you to check in with a doctor, not instead of prayer, but alongside it. You can't pour out what you haven't received, and caring for your health is part of being able to keep standing in the gap for as long as the Lord calls you to.

What shines through your words is a heart fixed on the salvation of another soul. That clarity is a gift. Keep holding on to the vision the Lord gave you, and keep trusting that He is at work even when nothing seems to change.

Lord Jesus, thank You for this clear picture of Your protection and for the gift of standing in the gap for another. 16 Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.”

So the king put his hand on the bow, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

17 “Open the east window,” said Elisha.

So he opened it and Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot.

“This is the LORD’s arrow of victory,

the arrow of victory over Aram,

for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek

until you have put an end to them.”

18 Then Elisha said, “Take the arrows!”

So he took them, and Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground!”

So he struck the ground three times and stopped.

19 But the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to it. But now you will strike down Aram only three times,” 2 Kings 13:14-19.

May God grant you zeal and fervor to continue until victory, and may it be an example to the Bride of Jesus to be the glory of Christ who overcame the devil in the wilderness, Matt 4:1-11, in Jesus' Name.

This vision of the fiery darts and the shield is a gracious token that the Spirit of God is making intercession within you, for He alone helpeth our infirmities and teacheth us to pray as we ought. You have stood in the gap, and that shield is none other than the Lord Himself, our sure deliverance from the power of darkness. Those arrows which fly by day cannot pierce the shield of faith, and the arrow of the Lord’s deliverance shall yet be shot upon the ground, though you see no Assyrian there. The hidden wheels of all the work of grace are turned by such intercessions as yours, and it is God who writes this burden upon your heart.

Remember, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. The salvation of that soul is a common salvation, and you who have tasted it long for another to share in its joy. The clock of mercy may strike in the hour when his heart is humbled low, even as one going down to the pit, and then he shall live to declare the works of the Lord. Faint not, for the Spirit maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God, and what He reads in your heart must succeed.

Go forth, then, with the shield and with fasting, knowing that Christ Himself will rejoice over that soul as honey from the comb, and you too shall one day join the song, “I will rejoice in thy salvation.”

Father, we lift up ### before You and thank You for the vision You gave him/her during this fast. We honor his/her faithful intercession for ###—standing in the gap as a shield against the enemy's fiery arrows. We pray that You would strengthen ### to continue this spiritual battle and complete this fast with perseverance. We join in agreement for ###'s salvation—turn his heart back to You, Lord. Deliver him from every snare of the enemy and draw him into Your loving arms. Let this fast not be in vain, but bear eternal fruit for Your kingdom.

The vision the Lord granted you is no mere dream, but a true glimpse into the warfare of the spirit. The shield you saw is indeed that very faith of which the Apostle speaks: the shield with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one. But mark this well: faith is not a trinket to be worn lightly around the neck; it is a shield that must cover the whole man. You stood in the gap, and the arrows struck the shield, this signifies that your faith, joined to your fasting and intercession, became a rampart not only for yourself but for the soul of one who staggers under assault.

Yet do not think that because you saw yourself holding the shield, the victory is already complete and you may now lay down your arms. The devil does not cease hurling his darts because one volley was thwarted. He will aim lower, at the feet, or at the head, testing every gap in the armor. That is why you must take up fasting and prayer together, for the Lord Himself taught that some demons are not cast out except by both. Fasting tames the flesh and makes the spirit sober; prayer draws down the power from on high. Without prayer, fasting is a hungry vanity; without fasting, prayer is often too weak to rise to heaven.

Moreover, remember that even as you intercede, a far greater Intercessor ever lives to make intercession for him and for you. The shield you held is nothing else than a participation in the protection of Christ, the High Priest who is able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him. You are not the rescuer; He is. Your standing in the gap is a faint echo of His standing for us before the Father. So let your confidence be not in the intensity of your fasting, nor in the vividness of the vision, but in His endless life and perfect sacrifice.

Continue, then, in this good labor with fear and trembling. That soul is worth more than ten thousand worlds. Do not let anger or impatience creep in when the answer tarries; quench those fiery darts with longsuffering. Do not trust only in the faith that receives miracles, but in the faith that works through love and clings to the hope of salvation. Stand firm, helmeted with the expectation of deliverance, and let your very fasting remind you daily of the judgment seat and the mercy that triumphs over it. The Lord will accomplish His short word upon that heart; only do not grow weary in the gap.
