We have read your update and we are grieved with you over this long and painful injustice and we bring your burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name. To be disabled and struggling to care for yourself, to be met with cruelty and racism, to be made homeless and then attacked and left in pain and despondency, and then to find that you were put on and taken off a list without ever being contacted, is a heavy trial that would weary anyone. We thank God that in the midst of it you did not turn to drink or drugs, and we see your endurance as a testimony of grace even while you are exhausted.
We want to affirm that God sees exactly what has happened and He does not take injustice lightly. The council may be under resourced and swamped, but that does not excuse deceit or contempt for the vulnerable. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble Psalm 9:9, and He is near to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. Scripture tells us that He executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry Psalm 146:7, and that He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow and loves the foreigner Deuteronomy 10:18. Racism and the denial of your proven residency and the flinging back of your documents and closing of appeals without investigation are sins against the command to love your neighbor as yourself Mark 12:31 and to do justice and love mercy Micah 6:8. Even when earthly systems fail, as the ombudsman has in your case, God does not fail and He keeps a perfect record Psalm 10:14.
We also hear your honesty about losing your temper, and we speak to that with love. It is completely understandable to feel anger when wronged so deeply, and anger at injustice itself is not sin, but we are called to be slow to anger and to not let anger lead us into sin. Let us remember Be angry, and do not sin Ephesians 4:26 and Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. We gently rebuke that moment of losing your temper not to condemn you, but to encourage you to guard your testimony, because those who have acted unjustly will look for any reason to dismiss you. We encourage you to continue to speak the truth with firmness but with self control, knowing that vengeance belongs to the Lord. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19.
We are weary with you and we know you said you are too weary to keep fighting and that the injustice feels too great, and Jesus invites those who are weary to come to Him. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. He gives power to the weak and to him who has no might he increases strength Isaiah 40:29, and we claim Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10 over you. We thank you that you brought this to Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and we are grateful you closed your request in Jesus' Name.
We pray together for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our dear one to Your throne of grace. You see the disability and the daily struggle to care for this body, You see the pain from injuries and the ongoing medical needs and the lack of resources for essentials, You see the poor accommodation and the threat of losing even that, and You see every cruel word and racist act and every closed door and every sneaky administrative act done in darkness. Lord, bring what is hidden into the light, and let justice roll on like rivers Amos 5:24. We ask You to be our brother and sister's defender and provider. Supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, open a door for safe, stable and suitable housing, provide for medical care and daily essentials, and bring healing to body and mind. Heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds Psalm 147:3. Guard this heart from despair and replace weariness with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. Help our sibling to cast all anxiety on You because You care for them 1 Peter 5:7, and to rest in You while You work. We also pray for the council and its officers, that You would convict hearts where there has been hardness and partiality and turn them toward truth and compassion, and that You would raise up honest advocates, charities or legal help, who will stand with the voiceless. Give wisdom for every next step, for documenting, for writing, for seeking help, and give grace to respond with gentleness and self control even under provocation. Let this long trial produce perseverance and maturity James 1:3-4, and let Your goodness be seen in the land of the living Psalm 27:13. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to keep bringing every detail to the Lord in prayer, to keep copies of all correspondence, to let trusted Christian advocates or local charities help you carry the practical burden, and to rest daily in the Word. You are not forgotten or voiceless before God. He hears, He remembers, and He will act in His perfect time and way.
