Update on 'The Council!!!' in danger of losing poor accommodation now too

Anonymous

Beloved of All
This is what happened. They cruelly refused housing 18 months ago, I'm a disabled person struggling to look after myself but they are under resourced and swamped and according to local charities, they turn the most voiceless away. They are not a good or kind or Christian council. They were nasty to me, openly racist, tried to deny my residency, which is very proven. They turned me away, even flung the application and documents back, closed all appeals without investigation and were vicious.
I had to go to the ombudsman but became homeless and was attacked. I spiralled down in despair and illness and pain with a long recovery from my injuries, but didn't turn to drink or drugs.
The ombudsman were not helpful. Things were left inconclusive.
I have just recently received correspondence which indicates that the council put me on the list without telling me and took me off because they demanded items and yet didn't contact me!!! Sneaky, never had any correspondence, and they knew I'd left my old address and become homeless.
I lost my temper but they will just use that, there is no recourse to justice within them or anywhere, I wrote to their controller but he won't do anything.
I rent bad accommodation and have not enough resources for essentials and medical need.
Please bring this to Jesus, I am too weary and the injustice is too great. God help me in Jesus' Name, amen

We have read your update and we are grieved with you over this long and painful injustice and we bring your burden before the Lord together in Jesus' name. To be disabled and struggling to care for yourself, to be met with cruelty and racism, to be made homeless and then attacked and left in pain and despondency, and then to find that you were put on and taken off a list without ever being contacted, is a heavy trial that would weary anyone. We thank God that in the midst of it you did not turn to drink or drugs, and we see your endurance as a testimony of grace even while you are exhausted.

We want to affirm that God sees exactly what has happened and He does not take injustice lightly. The council may be under resourced and swamped, but that does not excuse deceit or contempt for the vulnerable. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble Psalm 9:9, and He is near to those who are brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. Scripture tells us that He executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry Psalm 146:7, and that He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow and loves the foreigner Deuteronomy 10:18. Racism and the denial of your proven residency and the flinging back of your documents and closing of appeals without investigation are sins against the command to love your neighbor as yourself Mark 12:31 and to do justice and love mercy Micah 6:8. Even when earthly systems fail, as the ombudsman has in your case, God does not fail and He keeps a perfect record Psalm 10:14.

We also hear your honesty about losing your temper, and we speak to that with love. It is completely understandable to feel anger when wronged so deeply, and anger at injustice itself is not sin, but we are called to be slow to anger and to not let anger lead us into sin. Let us remember Be angry, and do not sin Ephesians 4:26 and Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. We gently rebuke that moment of losing your temper not to condemn you, but to encourage you to guard your testimony, because those who have acted unjustly will look for any reason to dismiss you. We encourage you to continue to speak the truth with firmness but with self control, knowing that vengeance belongs to the Lord. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19.

We are weary with you and we know you said you are too weary to keep fighting and that the injustice feels too great, and Jesus invites those who are weary to come to Him. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. He gives power to the weak and to him who has no might he increases strength Isaiah 40:29, and we claim Fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10 over you. We thank you that you brought this to Jesus, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and we are grateful you closed your request in Jesus' Name.

We pray together for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our dear one to Your throne of grace. You see the disability and the daily struggle to care for this body, You see the pain from injuries and the ongoing medical needs and the lack of resources for essentials, You see the poor accommodation and the threat of losing even that, and You see every cruel word and racist act and every closed door and every sneaky administrative act done in darkness. Lord, bring what is hidden into the light, and let justice roll on like rivers Amos 5:24. We ask You to be our brother and sister's defender and provider. Supply every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19, open a door for safe, stable and suitable housing, provide for medical care and daily essentials, and bring healing to body and mind. Heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds Psalm 147:3. Guard this heart from despair and replace weariness with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. Help our sibling to cast all anxiety on You because You care for them 1 Peter 5:7, and to rest in You while You work. We also pray for the council and its officers, that You would convict hearts where there has been hardness and partiality and turn them toward truth and compassion, and that You would raise up honest advocates, charities or legal help, who will stand with the voiceless. Give wisdom for every next step, for documenting, for writing, for seeking help, and give grace to respond with gentleness and self control even under provocation. Let this long trial produce perseverance and maturity James 1:3-4, and let Your goodness be seen in the land of the living Psalm 27:13. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing every detail to the Lord in prayer, to keep copies of all correspondence, to let trusted Christian advocates or local charities help you carry the practical burden, and to rest daily in the Word. You are not forgotten or voiceless before God. He hears, He remembers, and He will act in His perfect time and way.

We have been sitting with your update and the long road you have described. Being turned away so harshly, then becoming homeless and being attacked, then trying to get answers and getting silence instead would leave anyone exhausted, especially while living with disability and pain and tight resources. We are so sorry you have had to carry this alone for so long, and we are glad you did not turn to drink or drugs in that despair, that took real strength.

We hear how weary you are of fighting the system by yourself. One thing that has helped others in similar tangles is having an advocate alongside you, someone who knows housing processes and can speak with you. Since local charities already know the council is overwhelmed, you might ask one of them, or a disability rights or housing advice service, if a support worker could help you keep copies of every letter, log dates and calls, and help you ask the council in writing to confirm your current status and what they need from you. You do not have to do all the chasing alone, and having another person present can also make it harder for you to be dismissed.

For your ongoing pain and medical needs, please keep your GP or clinic in the loop as well, alongside prayer.

Father, we bring our friend to You now. You see the weariness, the housing worry, the pain and the sense of injustice. Give rest tonight, provide for daily needs and medical care, guide the next steps with the council, and surround this neighbor with kind, practical help. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your weary and wounded cry has been heard, and it is brought before the throne of grace where Jesus Christ Himself intercedes for His people. The Lord knows what it is to be turned away by those in power, to be without a place to lay His head, and to be despised and rejected. He sees the injustice you have suffered, the cruelty and unkindness shown, the documents flung back, the appeals closed without investigation, the homelessness and the attack that followed, and the long pain of body and spirit that has left you too weary to pray for yourself.

There is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. It is written that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only His fruit but even His leaves, the very touches of His garment, His voice, His presence, bring virtue to the sick and faint. When the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings. As it was said to the man sick of the palsy, your sins are forgiven you, so pardon and healing were made one in Christ. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and that healing changes the life blood and makes the nature other than it was before.

Men may fail in justice, councils may be swamped and under resourced, ombudsmen may leave matters inconclusive, and those who should protect the voiceless may turn them away. But the Lord does not so deal with His children. He does not fling away the petition of the poor, nor does He close His ear to the cry of the afflicted. He is the great conduit Head from which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below. What man denies, Christ supplies, and what man perverts, God will in His own time make right, for He is a God of justice and mercy, and no wrong is hidden from His eyes.

You confess that you lost your temper under this great provocation, and that you did not turn to drink or drugs in your despair. For that restraint give thanks to preserving grace, and for the sin of anger seek the forgiveness which is freely given in Christ. The healing of the soul must come before strength for service or for bearing further trial. Confess your weakness to Him who took our infirmities, and ask to be forgiven, and healing will come from the pardoning hand. He is able to heal though you have been brought very low, and He says to the backslider and the bruised one, Return, return.

We bring you to Jesus now, asking that He would be your dwelling place when earthly accommodation is poor and threatened, that He would provide for your daily bread and for your medical needs according to His riches, that He would give you rest in your weariness, and that He would vindicate your cause in His perfect way. May He lift you up as He took Peter's wife's mother by the hand and lifted her up from her fever, for there is healing in His touch and in His incarnation, His coming near to our flesh and sorrow. May He keep your heart from despondency and fill you with the peace that passes all understanding, and may He raise up kind and faithful helpers to stand with you where others have been harsh.

Cast your burden upon the Lord, for He careth for you. Come unto Him, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and He will give you rest. Welcome, then, to pardon and healing through our Lord Jesus, who alone is salvation, and trust Him to carry you till body and soul shall be without spot or wrinkle, and till every tear and every injustice shall be made right in His presence. Amen.
