unspoken request

We join you in lifting this unspoken request before the Lord, for we know that He hears even what is not spoken aloud. You have shared that you still love him and you are praying that he can see, and we bring both of these burdens together before the throne of grace in Jesus' name.

We take comfort that the Spirit intercedes for us when words fail, for it is written In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don't know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can't be uttered Romans 8:26. The Lord knows your heart fully, as it is written Yahweh, you have searched me, and you know me Psalm 139:1, and we can have confidence that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us 1 John 5:14.

We pray together for this man you love, that the Lord would touch his eyes. Whether this is a need for physical sight or for spiritual sight, we ask God to work. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind Psalm 146:8, and we pray that the eyes of his heart would be enlightened, that he may know what is the hope of his calling Ephesians 1:18. If there is physical affliction we ask for healing according to God's mercy, and if there is spiritual blindness we ask that God would remove any veil and draw him to the light of Christ, for the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving 2 Corinthians 4:4.

We also hear your love for him and we pray with you about this love. We encourage you to entrust this love to the Lord and to seek His will above all. Love is patient and is kind 1 Corinthians 13:4, and true love seeks what is holy and honors God. We pray that if this love is to continue, it would be as a godly courtship between a man and a woman with the goal of marriage, for marriage is the lifelong covenant ordained by God. We believe marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed be undefiled Hebrews 13:4. If you are in a courtship, we encourage you to keep it pure and to flee from sexual immorality, for you are to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to pursue a relationship that is equally yoked, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity, or what fellowship has light with darkness 2 Corinthians 6:14. This means seeking a spouse who is a believer in Jesus Christ and walking together toward a marriage that glorifies Him. If this man is not yet walking with the Lord, we pray first for his salvation, and we encourage you not to move forward outside of God's design but to trust the Lord to guide you to a godly marriage if it is His will.

We pray now together.

Father, we lift this unspoken request to You, You know every detail and every ache of the heart. We ask in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to You, that You would have Your perfect will in this situation. Touch this man, Lord, open his eyes physically and spiritually, heal him and draw him close to You. Let Your will be done in this love, purify it, guide it, and if it is Your will, lead it toward a holy marriage between a man and a woman that honors You. If not, give peace and strength to trust Your greater plan. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. Teach us to trust in Yahweh with all our heart, and not to lean on our own understanding Proverbs 3:5. We ask for comfort, wisdom, and hope while waiting on You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Thank you for trusting us with what is on your heart, even as an unspoken request. We hear the love and longing in your prayer that he would truly see how you feel.

It takes courage to keep loving and to bring that love honestly before the Lord instead of holding it alone. God already knows every detail you did not write out, and He cares for you both deeply.

When our hearts are waiting to be seen by someone we love, it can help to keep giving that waiting to Jesus day by day. We will keep praying with you, and it may also help to have one trusted, godly friend or pastor who knows you to walk with you in prayer so you are not carrying this by yourself.

Father, You know the name and the need behind this unspoken prayer. You see this heart that still loves and longs to be understood. We ask You to work in both lives according to Your perfect will, bring clarity where there is confusion, comfort where there is ache, and wisdom for each next step. Draw them both closer to You and let Your peace guard this heart as it trusts You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your unspoken request has been heard, though unspoken to man it is fully known to Him who searches the heart. There is One who careth for you. One eye is fixed on you, even in the place of your sorrow, one heart beats with pity for your woes, and a hand omnipotent shall yet stretch you out the needed help.

You pray that he may see. This is a prayer after the very heart of Christ, for our Lord came to open blind eyes. As it is written, whereas I was blind, now I see. When the eyes are open it is a very clear thing to the man himself. Others may doubt whether his eyes are opened but he knows they are. About that he has no question. There is but one who can give such sight. There is one great Physician who lays His hands on men and they are restored, there is but one, and there is but one sacred Fountain opened on Calvary. The leaves of that tree are for healing, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Not a word that ever fell from those dear lips but what bears healing in it for some one or other of the thousand ills that have befallen our humanity.

And you speak of love that still remains, and of a heart that feels its wound. We know there have been hearts broken by desertion, when one upon whom the soul leaned is severed from it, and the heart feels as though the other half of itself were torn away. The Lord has a care for such. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. He, if thou art one of His family, with bands of grace will bind up thy wounds and heal thy broken heart.

Let your prayer then be first for his soul and for your own, that pardon and healing may come together, for when Jesus healed the sick He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. All spiritual disease receives its deathblow when sin is forgiven. Sin is crucified by the same Cross which brings atonement. Pray that the Lord will give him spiritual sight to see Christ as He is, to see sin as it is, and to see the way of holiness clearly. Pray also that your own love may be set in order, that love to Christ may be first and fullest, for having loved His own which were in the world, He loved them to the end, and His love must rule ours.

We will not ask the Lord to bless what He has not called holy, for marriage is His ordinance, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all love between man and woman finds its proper and safe home only within it. But we do ask Him to do what is best and most healing for you both according to His wisdom and grace. If it be His will to bring you together in that holy covenant, may it be in purity and in His fear. If otherwise, may He give you grace to trust His hand and to find your completeness in Him.

Let us pray together. O Lord, Thou knowest this unspoken burden. Thou knowest this man for whom prayer is made. Open his eyes, that whereas he was blind, now he may see. Show him Thy Son, and give him repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven whereby we must be saved. Heal this wounded heart that waits before Thee. Forgive sin, and with forgiveness bring healing. Bind up what is broken, guard from temptation, and deliver from the evil one. Let Thy will be done in this life and in the life of him who is loved, and let Thy name have the glory. In Jesus name, Amen.
