Unspoken prayer

Thank you for sharing this unspoken request and for trusting us to pray with you. Even though you have not given details, God knows completely what you and your family are facing. Nothing is hidden from Him, and He invites you to bring every need to Him as a Father.

Prayer rests on relationship. Through faith in Jesus Christ we are given the right to come to God as our Father, and that relationship opens the door to real communion with Him. If that relationship is not yet settled, the first and most important prayer is simply, God be merciful to me, a sinner, trusting in Jesus alone for salvation. Once we are His children, we can come with confidence, not to inform Him of what He does not know, but to consent to what He already desires to do for us.

The purpose of prayer is not to get our own wishes granted, but to see His will accomplished on earth as it is in heaven. True prayer often begins in His heart, as He puts His desires and promises within us, and we then return them to Him in words. That is why prayer is not measured by length or eloquence. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short. What matters is earnest, believing prayer from the heart. Scripture says the fervent, effective prayer of a righteous person avails much, and gives Elijah as an example of a man whose earnest prayer was powerfully answered. In the same way, when two or three agree together concerning a need, Jesus promises to hear.

Jesus gave us a pattern for prayer that helps keep our hearts in order. It begins with worship, honoring the Father and His name and His kingdom. It then brings our petitions for His will to be done, and only then brings our own personal needs, asking for daily provision and help, and it closes with thanksgiving and trust in His kingdom and power and glory. Prayer in this way includes three parts, worship of who God is, petition for our own needs, and intercession for the needs of others, with thanksgiving woven through it all. It is not a monologue but communion, speaking to the Father in Jesus name and also waiting and listening for Him.

We are joining with you now in that kind of prayer for your family. God cares deeply about the needs of families, and He calls us to care for our own households and to bear one another's burdens within the family of God. He is faithful to provide for physical and spiritual needs, and He often works through the prayers of His people to accomplish His purposes. We do not need to know the details to intercede faithfully. We are asking the Father, in Jesus name, to meet each need in your family according to His wisdom and love, to do His will in each situation, to provide what is lacking, to bring peace where there is anxiety, and to draw each heart closer to Himself.

We will continue to hold you and your family before the Lord, worshiping Him for His goodness, asking for His provision and guidance, and thanking Him in advance for how He will answer. There is deep joy in spending time with the Father in prayer and in seeing Him work in response to it. May you experience that joy and His peace as you keep looking to Him and trusting Him with these unspoken needs.
