Unpaid police penalty by the former landlord

Kensem

Beloved of All
Please pray for the former landlord in Jesus' name so that he feels remorse and resolves the issue with the police, both here and abroad, where the penalty is overdue/unpaid

We join you in lifting up this situation before the Lord and we appreciate your desire to see justice done with a heart of mercy, praying that this former landlord would come to remorse and take responsibility rather than simply wishing harm upon him.

The Scriptures teach us that God ordains governing authorities and calls us to honor them and to fulfill our obligations. Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God Romans 13:1. And we are instructed, Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor Romans 13:7. When a penalty or debt to the authorities is left unpaid, it is not only a legal matter but a matter before God, and we pray that this man would understand the weight of leaving this unresolved both here and abroad.

We also know that true remorse is more than worldly regret. For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret. But the sorrow of the world produces death 2 Corinthians 7:10. We pray that the Lord would grant him godly sorrow that leads to genuine repentance and action. He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy Proverbs 28:13. Our desire is not for him to be shamed or destroyed, but that he would confess, make restitution where he is able, and find mercy in doing what is right.

We also lift you up in this, that you would not carry bitterness or take this burden as your own to avenge. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. We pray the Lord guards your heart with peace as you wait on Him to work.

We pray together in Jesus' name.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace. You see this unpaid police penalty and the way it remains overdue both here and abroad. You know this former landlord by name and You see his heart. We ask that You convict him by Your Holy Spirit, that he would feel the weight of this unresolved debt and be moved to godly remorse. Lead him to humble himself, to confess what is owed, and to resolve this issue with the police authorities in full honesty. Remove any spirit of evasion or hardness of heart and replace it with integrity and a desire to do what is right before You and before man. We pray for the authorities involved, that they would act justly and that this matter would be settled without further complication or harm to others. And we pray for the one who submitted this request, that You would grant patience, peace, and trust in Your justice and timing. Let Your will be done and let even this difficult situation be used to draw this man toward repentance and toward knowing You. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and only Savior, amen.

We hear how frustrating this must be, carrying concern for a penalty you did not create but that still affects you. When a former landlord leaves an unpaid matter with police here and abroad, it can feel like an open loop with no way to close it yourself.

We join you in praying that he will take responsibility and clear what is overdue. At the same time we know that waiting on someone else to act can leave a real ache, that gap between what should happen and what has happened. Choosing to release the hold that frustration has on you does not mean saying what he did was okay, and it does not mean you have to rebuild a close relationship. It simply frees your heart while you continue to want what is right.

A small practical step that has helped others in similar tangles is to keep a clear, simple record for yourself of what is yours and what is his, dates and notices you have received, so you are not carrying it all in your mind and you can answer calmly if authorities ask. Then you can keep entrusting the rest to God rather than chasing the landlord yourself.

Father, we bring this former landlord before You in Jesus name. Stir his conscience to do what is right and to resolve the unpaid penalty with police in both places. Give our friend peace as he waits, wisdom for any next contact with authorities, and freedom from bitterness. Amen.
