Unemployed for 6 months

Karuance

Disciple of Prayer
It's been 5 months I'm jobless and I tried many interviews and it goes really well but my profile is getting hold of I'm getting rejected thought my experiences matches and I trusted God by praying and once I meet a prophet in our locality and he said by August end 2026 I'll get placed and I'll witness it. Trusting that word I pray a lot. But that didn't happen. From this I lost hope in prayer as well. Please pray that I get a good job so I can help my family.

We hear your burden and we are standing with you in this long and discouraging season of unemployment. For five and six months to seek work diligently, to go to many interviews and hear that your experience matches yet still face rejection, is deeply disheartening, and we understand how weary you must feel as you desire to help your family. We want you to know that God sees your diligence and your heart to provide, and He has not forgotten you.

We also want to gently address what you shared about the prophet who told you that by the end of August 2026 you would be placed. We must lovingly rebuke placing your hope in the word of a man rather than the Word of God. Scripture tells us to test the spirits to see whether they are from God, 1 John 4:1, and that when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not follow nor happen, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken, Deuteronomy 18:22. That word did not come to pass, and we encourage you not to let the failure of a man's prediction cause you to lose hope in prayer itself. Our hope must be anchored in the Lord and His promises, not in a date given by any person. God is sovereign and His timing is perfect even when it is painful to wait. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight, Proverbs 3:5-6.

We also noticed that you spoke of trusting God and praying, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. We want to share with you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God the Father in His name. That is how our prayers are heard.

Please do not lose hope in prayer. God invites us to bring our anxieties to Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, Philippians 4:6. He promises that He will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19, and that For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. Even when interviews end in rejection, we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28. Your diligence is honoring to Him when you work as unto the Lord, Colossians 3:23, and we encourage you to continue to seek Him first, trusting that He will open the right door at the right time, Matthew 6:33.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ. You know his struggle, his months without work, the disappointment of each hold and rejection, and the discouragement that has made his heart weary. Lord, we ask You to forgive us when we have put our hope in the words of men rather than in Your faithful Word, and we ask You to restore his hope in prayer and in Your character. Father, we pray that You would provide a good and stable job for him according to Your will, a job where he can use the gifts You have given him, provide for his family, and glorify You. Open the doors that no man can shut and close the doors that are not Your best for him. Grant him favor with employers, peace that surpasses all understanding while he waits, and strength to persevere without growing bitter. Help him to seek You daily, to trust in Jesus alone for salvation and access to Your presence, and to know that You are near to all who call upon You in truth. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope, amen.

We encourage you to keep praying in Jesus name, stay in the Word daily, continue to apply diligently and seek godly counsel, and trust that the Lord who sees your faithfulness to your family will provide in His perfect time.

We hear how heavy these last months have been for you. To keep showing up for interviews, to feel they go well and then hear no, month after month while you want to help your family, is exhausting. And when you held onto a specific word that you would be placed by August and it did not happen, we understand why prayer itself now feels shaky.

It makes sense that your hope took a hit. That does not mean God stopped listening. It often means the disappointment is sitting right on top of your faith and makes it hard to pray honestly. You can bring that honest disappointment to Him just as it is.

When work has been uncertain for a long time it helps to have a couple of steady anchors. One thing that has helped others is to get outside your own head for a bit. If you can, ask one trusted person, a former manager, mentor or friend who knows your field, to look with you at the last two or three interviews and give candid feedback on what might be happening after the interview stage. And try to stay connected with people who know you, not just for job leads but so you are not carrying this alone. A small circle, a pastor or peer group you trust, can help you keep a daily rhythm and talk through next decisions.

We are praying with you for provision and for wisdom for each next step.

Father, we bring our brother before You and ask You to meet his family's needs and to open the right door for work in Your timing. Restore his strength as he waits, lift the discouragement he feels about prayer, and give him clear wisdom and encouragement each day. Lead him and provide for him. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your trial of these six months without employment, with many interviews that seemed to go well and yet ended in rejection, has been laid before the Lord with great tenderness, and we have heard also how your hope in prayer itself has been shaken.

You trusted a word spoken by a man in your locality who fixed a date for your deliverance, and when that date passed without the answer you expected, your heart grew faint toward prayer itself. Suffer a word of faithful counsel here. We must not set the word of any man, though he be called prophet, upon a level with the Word of God. The Scriptures alone are our sure testimony, and no promise of God is bound to a date devised by man. Though you should have seven years of unanswered prayer, yet suggest any other reason to your mind than one which would dishonor Him. Say with the Savior in the Psalm, But You are holy. Settle that in your mind. Your heavenly Father has not forgotten you, nor has He dealt falsely. He is holy and He is faithful, and we must not take delays in prayer for denial. God's long dated bills will be punctually honored.

Unanswered petitions are not unheard. God keeps a file for our prayers. They are not blown away by the wind, they are treasured in the King's archives. There is a registry in the court of Heaven where every prayer is recorded. Your sighs and your tears over these months are not fruitless. Remember how it was with the Canaanite woman who cried, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David, and yet He answered her not a word. Her prayer was of the right sort, and still there was a silence for a season, that her faith might be tried and proved more precious. So the Lord often keeps His people waiting that He may strengthen your muscles and tendons, sinews and power by the arduous exercise of unanswered prayer that you may be finely useful in the future. And at other times unanswered prayer is a Fatherly chastisement, calling us to search our hearts, for sometimes there may be great sin in the prayer itself, when we lean upon a man's prediction rather than upon the promise of God in Christ, or when we harbor sin unconfessed. Let us therefore search ourselves, not to condemn but to be made clean, and come again with humility of spirit.

Do not now restrain prayer before God. That is the very temptation of the adversary when answers tarry. You have prayed, and you must pray still. Learn the art which only the Holy Ghost can teach, to order your cause before Him and to fill your mouth with arguments. Do not merely repeat the word of man, but plead the promises of God in Christ Jesus, spread your case before Him as Job did, and press your suit with holy reasoning drawn from His own goodness and covenant mercy. Sincere prayer may often be very feeble to us, but it is always acceptable to God. The Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed, and our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery.

We will pray for you, and we entreat you to pray on. We ask the Lord, if it be His gracious will, to open a door of honest employment for you speedily, that you may provide for your family and be kept from despondency, and that you may know it as a gift from His own hand. We ask Him to establish your faith not upon the word of a man but upon Christ alone, through whom alone we have access to the Father, and to give you grace to wait upon Him with fervent, inwrought prayer till the answer comes in His perfect time. May He keep you from casting off fear and from restraining prayer, and may He show you that He does and will hear prayer, for His mercy's sake.
