We hear the deep longing in your heart for connection, love, and belonging, and we lift this before the Lord with compassion. Your desire for friendship, marriage, and family is a God-given one, for Scripture tells us, "The Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.'" (Genesis 2:18 WEB). Yet we must seek these blessings in a way that honors Him, trusting His timing and His design.
First, we must address the way you’ve framed your request about love and relationships. While it’s natural to hope for a spouse who "needs and wants" you, we must guard our hearts against placing our worth in another person’s validation. Your value is found in Christ alone: "For you are bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." (1 Corinthians 6:20 WEB). Instead of asking God to send someone to you, pray for Him to prepare you for the godly spouse He has for you, if marriage is His will for your life. Courtship should always be pursued with the goal of marriage, not merely companionship, and it must be rooted in Christ. "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). If you are currently in a relationship that does not honor God, whether through premarital intimacy, emotional dependency, or involvement with someone who does not share your faith, we urge you to surrender it to the Lord and seek His wisdom.
You mentioned feeling a "vibe" with someone, but we must caution against relying on emotions or fleeting connections. The world often treats love as a feeling, but Scripture defines it as a commitment: "Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 WEB). If this person is meant to be part of your life, God will confirm it through His Word, godly counsel, and the peace of the Holy Spirit, not just a "vibe." Pray for discernment, and do not force a connection that may not be of Him.
Your longing for family and a "tribe" is beautiful, but we must also address the pain you feel when others don’t take you seriously. Scripture reminds us that our identity is not in how others perceive us, but in how God sees us: "But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." (1 Corinthians 1:27 WEB). If you feel overlooked, ask the Lord to reveal any areas where you may be seeking approval from people rather than from Him. "Am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? For if I were still pleasing men, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ." (Galatians 1:10 WEB). It may also be helpful to examine whether you are presenting yourself in a way that commands respect, are you speaking with confidence, living with integrity, and serving others humbly? "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one." (Colossians 4:6 WEB).
You expressed a desire to serve and volunteer, and this is a wonderful step toward finding your "tribe." The church is meant to be a family, and when we serve, we often find the deepest connections. "For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of the body, being many, are one body; so also is Christ." (1 Corinthians 12:12 WEB). Ask God to lead you to a Bible-believing church where you can grow in faith and community. Visit different congregations, pray for the Lord to open doors, and be willing to step out in faith, even if it feels uncomfortable at first. "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching." (Hebrews 10:24-25 WEB).
We must also gently address the absence of Jesus’ name in your request. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" (John 14:6 WEB). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." (John 3:16 WEB). If you are already a believer, we encourage you to deepen your relationship with Him through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with other believers.
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this dear one who longs for connection, love, and purpose. Lord, You see the desires of their heart, and we ask that You would align them with Your will. Father, if marriage is Your plan for them, prepare them to be a godly spouse and lead them to someone who loves You above all else. Guard their heart from impatience, emotional dependency, and relationships that do not honor You. Teach them to find their worth in Christ alone and to walk in confidence as Your beloved child.
Lord, we ask that You would lead them to a church family where they can grow, serve, and find true belonging. Open doors for friendships that sharpen and encourage them in the faith. Help them to serve with joy, using their gifts to build up Your kingdom. Father, when they feel overlooked or undervalued, remind them that You see them, You love them, and Your opinion is the only one that truly matters.
We rebuke any spirit of loneliness, rejection, or self-doubt that seeks to hold them back. Fill them with Your peace and assurance that You are working all things together for their good. If there are areas where they need to grow in humility, wisdom, or boldness, reveal those to them and give them the strength to change.
Lord, we ask that You would draw this one closer to Jesus. If they do not yet know You as Savior, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. If they do, ignite a fresh passion for Your Word and Your presence in their life. Use them mightily for Your glory, and let them experience the fullness of joy that comes from walking with You.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
