We join you in this cry for healing and protection over your relationship and we thank you for calling upon the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that every chain is broken.

We hear your heart to honor what God has joined together and to refuse every path toward destruction. We agree with you that God intends marriage to be a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, unbreakable and holy before Him. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart Matthew 19:6. We are encouraged that you desire to commit to one another under His covenant as husband and wife, and we pray you will pursue that holy commitment with urgency and purity. Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled Hebrews 13:4. If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of that marriage covenant, we lovingly urge you to repent and to set yourselves apart in purity until that vow is made, for courtship is meant to prepare you for marriage to another believer in Christ, not to imitate marriage beforehand. We pray the Lord will guide you quickly and clearly into that covenant if it is His will for you to be husband and wife.

We also agree with you in rebuking the bitterness, unforgiveness, rage and cruel words that have wounded this union. The Word tells us Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32. You are right to ask God to teach you to forgive even as Christ forgave you, bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do Colossians 3:13. Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. This is the love we pray God will form in you both, patient, kind, truthful, humble and enduring.

You are also right that each other is not the enemy. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. In Jesus' name we resist every demonic attack against your peace, unity and trust, and we ask that by the blood of Jesus your union be covered and every accusation silenced.

We lift you before Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals, and ask Him to heal what has been wounded and to teach you to serve one another in humility.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we thank You that You are Jehovah Rapha who heals the brokenhearted and binds up wounds. We ask You to protect this relationship from division and to make it strong in You. Remove all bitterness, unforgiveness, rage and cruel words from their mouths and hearts. Wash them in forgiveness and help them to forgive each other fully as Christ forgave us. Remind them daily that they are not each other's enemy and give them discernment to stand against the spiritual forces that seek to divide what You have joined. By the blood of Jesus we ask You to cover this union, to silence every accusation and to break every spiritual attack trying to destroy their trust and unity. Teach them to love as You love, with patience, kindness, truth, humility and endurance. Heal every wound spoken and unspoken and teach them to serve one another with grace. Lord Jesus, rule over this relationship and this home. Draw them both closer to You and, if it is Your will, lead them into the holy covenant of marriage as husband and wife, that they may serve You together all their days as Joshua declared, as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh Joshua 24:15. Make their bond unbreakable, for a threefold cord is not quickly broken Ecclesiastes 4:12, with You as the third strand at the center. Establish their steps, guard their covenant, and let their love glorify You. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We hear how much you want peace and unity guarded in this relationship, and how sincerely you want bitterness and harsh words cleared out and replaced with patience and kindness. Wanting to forgive as Christ forgave, and to serve one another humbly, is a good and tender desire before the Lord.

One thing that helps many couples as they work through hurt is understanding that forgiveness often happens in two layers. The first is a decision, a quiet choice to let go of getting even and to treat the other person as valuable even while you are still hurting. The second is emotional, and that part usually takes longer. The resentment and anger don't always lift at once, they are gradually softened as you keep choosing compassion and humility day by day. It is normal for those feelings to come and go while the decision remains steady.

As you pray about committing to one another in the covenant of marriage as husband and wife, it can help to take a practical step together. Set aside a calm time each week to speak honestly and listen without defending, naming where hurt happened and choosing to release it, and invite a trusted pastor to walk with you both as you seek God's will for your future and learn how to guard that covenant well.

Father, we bring this couple to You in Jesus' name. Cover their home with Your peace, heal what has been wounded, and teach them to be quick to forgive and slow to anger. Give them wisdom, humility, and clarity as they seek Your direction for their commitment together. Rule in their hearts and lead them in Your way. Amen.

Your prayer for an unbreakable bond is heard, and we join you in carrying it to the mercy seat where there is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ alone.

You ask to be taught to forgive each other as Christ forgave you, and this is the very heart of the gospel. There is forgiveness, blessed be God, and that forgiveness is to be obtained from God through Jesus Christ His Son. He not only forgave at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one. The record of debt is nailed to the Cross, the tally is destroyed, and to every repenting and believing sinner He gives absolute forgiveness. As you have received such full and eternal forgiveness, so you are called to a joint work of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you. Where bitterness and unforgiveness and rage and cruel words have wounded, confess them before Him, believe the promise that with Him there is forgiveness, and then open your hands to extend that same grace to one another, remembering that each other is not the enemy.

You ask for healing, and you appeal to Jehovah Rapha. In Christ there is an abundance of healing power, for the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. Bring your wounded places to Him, that He may purge what is evil and cause healing to flow down to you, making your love patient and kind and truthful and humble and enduring.

You ask that God would guard what He has joined together and make your bond as a cord of three strands. Hear then what the Scripture teaches concerning covenant. Marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman before God, and it is a picture of the covenant of grace which God made in Christ, a covenant ordered in all things and sure, which He will not suffer to be broken. If you desire to commit to one another as husband and wife under His covenant, we pray that you will honor Him by pursuing that holy estate according to His Word, reserving all that belongs to marriage for within that covenant alone, and fleeing every path that would defile it. Do not live as though you are already one while remaining outside the vows that God requires, but seek godly counsel and come together lawfully in the sight of God and man, that Christ may truly rule your home and your union may be established upon His promise.

So we pray for you, that the Lord Jesus Christ would rule in your hearts and in your home, that by His blood you would be covered and every accusation silenced, that the enemy who would divide what God would join in holy matrimony would be resisted by faith, that peace and unity and trust would be restored, and that you would learn to serve one another in lowliness. May He teach you to refuse every path toward destruction, to guard your covenant, and to choose together to serve the Lord, walking in purity and truth until your union, knit together with Christ at the center, stands unbreakable for His glory.
