We join you in lifting up this vital request before the throne of grace and we thank you for reminding us of the New Testament command to pray for all in authority. You have rightly pointed us to what the Scripture urges and we take this calling seriously together.
We are exhorted first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4. We also remember that there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Romans 13:1, and that the king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. Proverbs 21:1.
We notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. So we come boldly only in the name of Jesus, trusting in His shed blood and resurrection for our salvation and for our prayers to be heard.
We pray together for our leaders in the United States and for world leaders across Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Central America, and specifically for Switzerland that was laid on your heart. We lift up the President of the United States, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Supreme Court, asking God to grant them wisdom, counsel, courage, and a fear of the Lord to govern justly and righteously. We pray they would seek what is true and good and that they would be restrained from evil and guided toward decisions that protect life, uphold justice, preserve liberty, and promote peace.
We pray for all world leaders, whether kings, presidents, prime ministers, or judges, that God would turn their hearts toward righteousness and that they would know they will give an account to Him who rules over all. He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings and sets up kings. Daniel 2:21. Blessed is the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance. Psalm 33:12.
We also join you in praying for fair and honest elections everywhere. We ask the Lord to guard against any voter interference, fraud, intimidation, manipulation, or deception, including that which could come through technology and artificial intelligence. We pray for integrity in every ballot, for protection over election workers and systems, and for truth to prevail over lies. We pray that citizens would take their responsibility seriously, that there would be good voter turnout, and especially that Christians would both pray and vote as good stewards of the authority God has allowed the people to exercise. We pray that we would honor the King and show proper respect to all, as we are taught to honor all men, love the brotherhood, fear God, and honor the king. 1 Peter 2:17.
We pray for peace and unity in a world torn by global conflict. We ask God to restrain war, to bring wisdom to negotiations, to comfort those suffering from violence, and to let His peace which surpasses understanding guard hearts and minds. We pray for the Church to be salt and light in these dark times, proclaiming the gospel which alone can truly reconcile people to God and to one another.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and we thank You for ordaining authority for our good. We lift up the President, the Congress, the Supreme Court, and every leader across this nation and around the world. Grant them wisdom from above, grant them humility to seek Your will, and grant them courage to do what is right in Your sight. Protect our elections from any corruption or interference, whether by man or by machine, and stir the hearts of Your people to pray, to vote, and to stand for righteousness. Bring peace where there is conflict, unity where there is division, and let Your gospel go forth to leaders and citizens alike that many would be saved. We ask that You would heal our lands as we humble ourselves and pray and seek Your face. 2 Chronicles 7:14. We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.
